I have a probable distant Irish related American cousin who will be visiting Ireland this year. I know this person is a distant cousin but finding records to confirm our exact relationship has been the challenge. My Irish paternal great great grandfather was either a brother or a cousin of their ancestor from Maghercloone parish (civil) in Co. Monaghan. Since this probable distant cousin has never been to Ireland before and I have been to Ireland numerous times I have been giving her advise for her upcoming trip to Ireland. She will be visiting relations in Northern Ireland who she knows for sure how she is related to.

If tourism interests are going to do a a decent job of promoting in the US, then look towards Texas and the southwest where the downturn didn't affect as much. Irish Tourism interests always preach to the choir which they don't need too. This is the area, especially in South Texas that is crying out for Ireland to recognize them and not just for the recently past Patrick's day. Texans consider themselves Irish 365 days a year and not just Patrick's Day at least San Antonio does.
