His punishment was more severe than anything meted out to british terror state forces or loyalist for killing Irish children.

Send him down to Co. Kerry - Saturday Night - we'll tell everyone he beat a dog to death and I assure you some of the lads would "counsel" him

Though Terriers are among Domesticity`s most Intelligent additions, they are still only a Leather Harness and a couple of Short Ribs, from Wild Animals, like Foxes and Badgers. As such even Pit Bull Dogs are exempt( Innocent )from The Malice of Criminal Punishment ( An Eye for an Eye ? ) There simply is no substitute for Good Training and Responsible Husbandry. Real Question here would be; Who was the Real Savage ?

Nosoupforu you say the dog should have been put donethe first time. Does anyone know the kids may have done to the dog to get bitten. An eight year old is old enough to know you don't go near a dog on a chain without asking the owner if it is alright. Was the dog hurt at another time by a child and was on the defensive? There are many ways the attack happened that may not have been the dogs fault. You sound like those idiots on the Belfast City Counsel who put down Lennox just because they didn't like his looks...

The child and the other child could have been permanently scarred or even killed by that dog. He should have been put down the first time.

23 previous convictions for what offense? When a child is injured, you go to your child first and fast. This guy had time to go beat up a little dog that probably weighed just 10 lbs. And pray tell why do you need a dog if it has to be chained up??? The judge is a joke as he believes the guy is " successfully turning his life around".

Are the people in Northern Ireland just violent morons. Why can't they just act like normal humans instead of rioting, killing and beating the hell out of each other and their animals.

With 23 previous convictions this guy sounds like a real thug. Obviously someone who acts with violence first and then thinks later when it's too late. The very least he should have done was check personally the extent of injuries to his daughter. NO doubt he'll use the 'Red Mist' excuse again in his next court appearance.

You will be upset that your kid was bit by a dog but he didn't have his facts right and savagely killed a chained up little dog. That is animal abuse. I'm concerned over the way thinks about their animals.

Northern Ireland is certainly getting a terrible reputation for unnecessary cruelty to dogs this year. This man should have gotten some punishment. What if he had been told a person did something to his daughter? He might just as easily "snapped" and seriously injured that person.
