With his deceased daughter’s rings hung around his neck, Nicola Furlong’s father returned home from Tokyo on Tuesday night where he told reporters he is confident that Japanese investigators will bring the 21-year-old’s killers to justice.

Andrew Furlong and his brother-in-law Denis Corrigan flew to Asia last Thursday and spent five days with police and prosecutors discussing the investigation into the Irish student's murder.

"We got a lot of answers but we are kind of tied not to say too much," he told the Irish Independent.

"The meetings were long, stressful, hard, and every day was worse than the previous one. You would think there would be an easier day when the next day comes but it's harder again."

A native of Curracloe, Co Wexford, Nicola was found dead in a Tokyo hotel room in May after a night out at a Nicki Minaj concert with her Irish friend. Two Americans, dancer James Blackston (23) and an unnamed 19-year-old backing musician remain in custody over the murder.

Andrew Furlong also visited the University where Nicola had been studying as part of her foreign exchange from Dublin City University. The heartbroken father spent some time in her bedroom where he retrieved her jewelry and a laptop he had bought for his eldest daughter before she left for her foreign exchange last year.

"We got back her rings as well, which was emotional. It was nice to see where she was; the college were brilliant with us out there,”

"The whole place couldn't do enough. I think Nicola is the first person in the college that something like this has happened to."

Charges have yet to be brought against the two suspects.
