@antoman.What's wrong with Georgie Boys Irish slurs, bulls*it and bigotry? I only comment on this site to those I disagree with mostly.I'm not going to be able to change the mind of Georgie Boy,Towngate,Fallsnat, and another few in any fundamental way.No matter how good an argument or how many well established facts you place before them they won't change what they believe.People hold on to what they believe like the way they believe in God.I use them to bounce my argument off their comment for people on this site that don't have a clue. They then can decide which argument is better. In my opinion Niall O'Dowd did the right thing.Walter Ellis made a veiled threat to Georgie Boy and Niall O'Dowd told him to behave himself.Georgie Boy really believes his crap and so what if he calls people names. If Walter Ellis can lose his cool that easy with Georgie Boy to the point where he makes a threat. Then it tells me alot about the personality of Walter Ellis.I was not impressed.Georgie Boy is more to be pitied then mocked. But mocking him without threats is the way to go.
@Towntroll-The damage has been done and its irrepairable.I was rooting for Niall O'Dowd but like the media and reporters of Ireland who frequent this site was dissapointed at his silence towards georgyboy and perplexed that he should go on the offensive against Walter Ellis.Who was tame in his article compared to comments left here by georgyboy.No..I fear as I've said here already. The USS Niall O'Dowd was sunk by georgyboy before it even left port.A shame.
RTE SIX ONE NEWS 20.6.11: Niall's appearance on this programme cannot hurt his campaign but could have been more generous to him. His caption stated his 'Irish Voice ' but his IrishCentral website was not mentioned. His spot was slotted between no less that four seperate segments about some young Golfer winning some American competition! Still, we should be careful about what we post here as some voters may visit for the first time and think that some of the squabbling bag of cats who Post and Comment on his site are typical examples of the Diaspora he wishes to represent. We owe him that much.
@Mamaginnty-Unlikely,georgyboy uses this American freedom of speech thing to troll.I see no reason why you can't use it to put the boot in.
oh lordy automan, I lost my temper with GD. in Dannyboys post about emmigration and fees. Wonder if Naill is going to bar me from I.C. In all my years I have never been barred from anything. Would be quite embarrassing at my age.
...and yet he is quick to defend HIMSELF against the likes of Walter Ellis.Thats selfish and self centred.
@Towntroll-The only questions the media and the people will have for Niall O'Dowd, given his site was mentioned on the 6pm news today. Is why did'nt he defend Ireland against the slurs, racism and bigotry of georgyboy.Have no doubt that Irish people are stopping by to check him out and the site.
Niall, a chara: Welcome Shamrockside! ~ But be careful! - Remember Dublin is only 62 miles from Britain-of-the Long Memories,so keep your voice down ~ ~ ~ You will be asked many leading questions during your quest for Endorsement but I imagine one of them could well be: "Niall,Sir, why is it necessary for you to be President of Ireland in order for you to 'Open Doors' and '...improve direct Diaspora Investment', is it conditional? ~ can you just not do that anyway and still remain in America?". ~ ~ ~ Niall,if it's true that your wife and daughter will not join you in Ireland, you should consider the long lonely Irish nights hunched over a bit of a fire, and although surrounded by the magnificent architecture and decor of the British Vice-Regal Lodge which we now like to call the "Aras..." you will have no comfort there. ~ ~ ~ No. 'Niall O'Dowd ~ President of the American Irish Diaspora' ... is yer owndly man! Do what you say you can first - and the next time you will be elected! ~ King of Ireland!
@Kathy-Its patently clear to me and the readership that Niall O'Dowd has only his own interests at heart and not Ireland or its people.Michael D Higgins despite looking like a hobgoblin with a squeaky voice would most certainly not tolerate georgyboys daily disparaging diatribe about Ireland and her people on his site.
@Kathy-Pray they don't visit his/this website to see what Niall O'Dowd is all about and discover georgyboys daily derogatory diatribe concerning Ireland and the Irish. They will.He was briefly mentioned on the 6pm news today along with his site.I have no doubt his chances of becoming president are zero once they see the shite left here everyday by georgyboy on HIS site.Michael D Higgins, despite looking like a well groomed hob goblin with a squeaky voice would certainly not tolerate georgyboys activities on his site.He loves Ireland and her people whereas Niall O'Dowd is only concerned about himself.
antoman or whatever your true name is -i stand by my recent experiences travelling around Ireland in April 2011 for two full weeks -talking to people every step of the way. Whenever, I mentioned Niall O'Dowd's name in lecture halls, cultural events...Sligo, Dingle, Cork, Dublin, Dalkey, Donegal, Kerry, Claire -government buildings, public squares and on remote Irish Tory Island his name and work was immediately recognized with enthusiasm and very well received indeed. Tis a fact.
Mention the name Niall O'Dowd to the people of Ireland and invariably you are met with a chorus of "georgyboy!!",followed by guffaws of laughter.Walter Ellis should consider running.People have read his comments here and respect him for handing georgyboys arse to him on a plate.
Anyone talking to Fianna Fail about their backing is immediately going into something of an electoral ghetto. I don't think either that Mr O'Dowd understands the difference between a US style executive presidency and the 'walk straight, shut up and shake hands a lot' style presidency in Ireland. I note Mr O'Dowd's comments on favouring a 'business' focused presidency. To be honest I think Ireland has had more than enough 'business focused' leadership for a generation or two. Aras an Uachtaran is not a corner shop. And any attempt to turn it into one will run into constitutional difficulty. Best of luck anyway but I'd guess somewhere between 2% and 4% of the vote tops.
