It should be a woman's choice whether or not she wants that child...the option should be there if she doesn't want it. Suppose she were raped, should she HAVE TO have that child? No, it she be HER decision.

After taking part in the March for Life in Washington for the first time I actually have hope that the youth of America will be the ones to get this country back on track. They are the survivors;the ones who were aborted were their brothers and sisters. There were also many women there who had had abortions because it seemed the easiest or only solution to their problems. The many years of psychological pain that followed their abortions should be a warning that abortion hurts women. Like the bumper sticker that says it all: ABORTION - ONE DEAD, ONE WOUNDED
I wish Ireland could learn from what happened in the US.

" The sex survey also found that 25 percent of Irish women experienced at least one unplanned pregancy while just 14 percent of men said they did. ..."
"just" 14%? Is this a mix up? Is that Kansas Church right?

How very sad to hear this! A new survey says that 6 in 10 in America now believe abortion is morally wrong (on Drudge Report). It only took 37 years and 50 million precious human beings to change hearts! How long will it take the Irish before they see what a lie they've been fed too.

In my volunteer work, I see many babies via ultrasound. Depending on how old they are, for instance at 9 weeks, I have seen them moving their tiny arms and legs. They are human beings and if left to develop. will be born and God willing live to adulthood. Abortion is murdering a human being. I have seen them and have no doubt about it. If there are problems about raising them please consider adoption. They have the right to live and some couple who desperately wants a child will have the pleasure of raising one.

dessieglynn should know that condoms prevent the transmission of life and creation of a soul by the graces given by God to men and women of child-creation age to do so. Stopping God’s plan or graces is a form of denying Him and His plan for our world and is therefore wrong, if you believe in God.That’s why condoms are anathema, shunned by true Christians. Oh yeah, I know they stop transmission of Aids and other STDs... But if you were God, what would He or His Son say? I dare to assume... ‘Abstain’... don’t do “it” until you’re ready and responsible enough to have children. Otherwise you are playing with the fire of life while giving money to manufacturers of condoms (and birth-control pills) where instead you could be saving your money for your future home or family.

What many might miss regarding abortion is that the Catholic Church teaches that, on conception, a whole new soul is created by God along with the embryo. It is the soul belonging to the future human being that the Church teaches should be given a right to life because God created it and we should not destroy it. Who knows what that embryo might become in the future?... a poor person, a rich person, a leader of a country, a nurse, a doctor, perhaps a neighbouring person whom you might need later in life and saves you from, say, a house fire, an earthquake, tsunami or disease? It is the right to life that is at stake here, not the wishes of the passionate child-not-wanted mother or father are (extreme medical conditions notwithstanding). The more people who are wiped out in the womb, the poorer the world becomes. How many people alive have said when something happens “There was no one around”? So the 60% in favour poll shows we can do without these future good souls and people? Eh? Gimme that possible conclusion again, please. The experiences of Haiti and the Asian tsunami show that there were not enough people around to help in the immediate aftermath. Why? Perhaps because potential life-savers were killed off in the womb - millions of them in the USA and worldwide? Abortion, the most extreme form of child abuse, must stop. Right now.

It is a shame to see so many of the great Irish people, having in their history endured terrible persecution for the Faith, now willing to turn on the most helpless of their own. This is difficult to grasp.

Ireland: you have enough problems..do not add abortion rights to your list. It is murder, no matter what words you wish to justify your "choice"...

Abortion IS murder, it kills an innocent life and is the epitomey of selfishness. Have unprotected sex and then kill the result. God is not amused at how the younger generation of Irish have turned their backs on Him.This is another dangerous road that they should not travel. Consider the state of Ireland's current conditions and the state of faith in Ireland. Abortion, Gay, Sexual abuse.....God is not amused.
