Five days after Hurricane Sandy struck the east coast of the United States millions in New York and New Jersey have been left without power, 40 have been killed and hundreds are left homeless. As New York comes to grips with the havoc wreaked by the storm last Monday, we went to streets of New York to hear people's stories.
The lower section of Manhattan remains without power or subways, the trading floor of the New York Stock exchange was shut for two days, and life remains altered for the many downtown.

While the damage to properties and lives in Manhattan is nowhere near the devastation seen in Breezy Point and the Rockaways, in Queens, in Staten Island or along the Jersey shore it is still taking time for the city to bounce back.
As things return to normal New Yorker are certainly counting their blessings and feeling very lucky in the wake of this powerful example of Mother Nature’s force.
