New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn plans to return a contribution check for $4,950 toward her anticipated 2013 mayoral run after The New York Post claimed the source of the funds was an actress and model involved with convicted swindler Norman Hsu.

Quinn recieved the maximum legal donation from Suzanne Raffaelli in 2007 for a campaign that was assumed to be for the open mayoral seat.

But Quinn's mayoral campaign was iced after the City Council extended the term limits that allowed Mayor Michael Bloomberg to run again in 2009, leaving the money aside for a 2013 citywide campaign.

Raffaelli has since admitted to being a donor for Hsu, who is serving time for mail and wire fraud in connection to a Ponzi scheme.

According to a repot in the Post, Raffaelli was granted legal immunity after testifying against Hsu, who gave her more than $90,000 to donate to the campaigns of elected officials.

Somehow I always get a quessy feeling every time a politician makes a RIGHTEOUS announcement!
Whatever happened to the slush fund monies? That investigation mysteriously slid off the page....shady.
Another subversive Catholic who will do to New York what the Obamas did to Chicago. Throw out the Irish leadership in the name of equality and inclusiveness.
Shouldn't Christine Quinn return the dozens of $4,950 contributions from real estate developers who have current business in front of the City Council? This is a clear conflict of interest and violates campaign finance laws.
If she really refuses tainted cash she'd have to return most of it except pennies from kid;s piggy banks.Who doesn't want a politician in their pocket?
