the construction industry needs to make a greater effort to hire native american workers especially when new york's unemployment figure is close to 10%. they should be hiring people who have a vested interest in the u.s. to claim that 50% of construction workers are irish is ridiculous and off by about 40%

Are you kidding me Mrs. Gatling?! Let's legalize all the illegal Irish and forget about the Mexicans. Gee that will make a compelling re-election slogan for Mr. Bloomberg.
Oh yeah, while you are at it, just forget about all the unemployed U.S. construction workers and encourage more illegal Irish to come over here because there are so many jobs here. And of course this makes sense, because as Gatling suggested, the Irish are so much more skillful in construction than other ethnic groups.
Plenty of jobs in the USA?! Where has this Gatling lady been for the past few years? Maybe she has been in China or living in a fantasy world.
