I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THE MAJORITY OF IRISH WHO LEFT THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS DID NOT GOTO AMERICA THEY WENT TO THE UK, AUSTRALIA, CANADA AND NEW ZEALAND.... ALSO IF PEOPLE WANT TO LEAVE AND TRAVEL THEN THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO THAT... ITS NOBODY ELSES BUSINESS... IF YOUR BORN IN IRELAND THEN YOUR IRISH AND THATS YOUR HOME NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE IN THE WORLD..

I;m not a Facebook user, but earlier today I did get access to that site described above. What struck me was the standard of the attacks on the site posted by Irish people living overseas, Australia in particular. They were uniformly illiterate and full of foul language. There was no pretense of logical argument--only invective and abuse. I guess in that respect they resembled posters here such as cuculin. Are you posting from a bar in Australia by any chance, Cuculin?

Or is empty abuse all you have to offer? Come on, give us just one paragraph on why it is a good idea for the Irish ruling class to import cheap labor from abroad, right at the time when Ireland's young people are leaving in throngs. Nonetheless, cuculin is certainly right to point out that you do nothing but "spout anti-Irish (almost racist) comments." What hypocrisy it is then, for you to accuse cuculin of "not ONE substantive point." What "substantive point" have you made with your appallingly careless generalizations (faulty generalization is the informal fallacy of logic most often used by bigots) and your streams of invective? You've become a stereotype! So at least have the decency to lie about where you live so that the Irish, Australians, Canadians and others who read your garbage will not think of Irish-descended Americans as unable to shift their brains into any gear but bigotry.

Specifically, in your curent clumsy attack on me you make not ONE substantive point in riposte to my argument. Not ONE. So I'll repeat if for you, you dope. There are lots of jobs in Ireland. Maybe you're too lazy or too illiterate to get one, though that's hard to believe, since people even walk right in from Angola or Latvia or Pakistan and get jobs in Ireland. I try and stay away from comments as most are utter tripe but when I saw your splendid pile of garbage this morning I had to log in just to blast you. You have no clue about what happened or is happening in Ireland other than what you can gather from here or the net. As I said before. I live in Summerfield fl. where talk about job takers. When you go the stores and restaurants. You see more seniors then young folks so it happens in everything. They take the baggers at the stores and waiters at the Mcdonalds and ect and every other one. Like I said before the western Europeans take lower pay and the irish are not waiting on the visitors. Also I think that effected the move to the USA

I agree 100% with IrishRyan .If they didn't leave we could not afford to give them money.

Woundedknee - so how come almost all the menial jobs in the US are occupied by Latinos???? Again. II make the point that if you want to stay in Ireland and fight with Poles, Pakistanis and assorted east Euro types then do so. If you want to put your education to use and want a better life then leave because THAT is your only option. Been there and done that. If you experienced MY options back in the day, WKnee, you would have a different perspective. Then there were NO jobs, today there are some lower level jobs but the "option" is the same.
