This was the first visible and high profile demonstration of an issue that has been fought for over a decade. The question is, using the Constitution, as the basis, Is marriage a right? Marriage is viewed in many cultures as a contract, and people, according to the Constitution have the right to enter into contracts. The question is,'Why are legislative bodies in the States deciding this issue? Should not the Supreme Court decide this? The only thing I objected to was Beyonce's rendition of Ave Maria. Mary is very sacred in The Catholic faith. She is the symbol of purity, grace, and faith. She is the Mother of the Son of God. People have to realize there is a limit. The Church should not mingle with the state, and there were carve outs for religious organizations, but the same should be applied to those in political office. When Mario Cuomo was debating about abortion he said," I may have a personal objection to abortion, but I represent constituents who don't share the same view."But Councilwoman Quinn you are granted by State law to marry, but remember you are a political official, and you should have not allowed a religious theme song in your marriage. You are not uniting anyone; you are dividing.

Yes, very derogatory headline but I'm sure that didn't in any way diminish their marriage and bright future together.

Hey dumbass Canuck -the same odds refer to the fact that half of marriages end in divorce, but you are too dumb to realize that.

bogsidebunny, you know nothing, maybe less than nothing; in fact you seem to have Intelligence Deficit Disorder. The only thing "ugly" and on the bottom here is your comment about the photo of two smiling women.

When this country was truly great this type of relationship was virtually universally recognized{ and rightly so} as a serious mental illness and a degeneracy. Our immigrant ancestors are surely spinning in their graves that this pervert has a good shot to be the next mayor. We have truly lost our way and are in desperate need of Divine Intervention.

Boy it is amazind how Murph tries to switch things around. He makes jokes of these people and calls them down and then he has the audicity to say that heterosexuals are fighting the same odds. Oh please some one get this person a drink or maybe he has to many. Since when does a heterosexual suffer abuse because is a heterosexual. It isn't to often that an heterosexual will be discrimminated against at his job or anywhere if he is white, being black or hispanic or Jewish that is another bigots dream.

@Murph46 - their smiling faces show me their happiness, and make me feel happy too. I always thought that happiness is contagious. I guess you have been immunized against happiness.

God loves them and so should all of us. As God's children we are loved unconditionally by a wonderful parent. Study Christianity, Murph. Then you might not let your ignorance be so obvious.

Hey Murph if you would have kept up with our last election you would have seen that the separatist party(The Block Quebecois) no longer exists and they were voted out in Quebec. Check next time you post that way you don't look so stupid.
