Mary McAleese states that building bridges across Ireland was "the theme od her presidency"[of the independent Irish state]. I too would like to see the two parts of the homeland more closely connected by bridge (not separated by borders). The former president also spoke of the peacemakers but didn't mention any of them by name. Obviously these include former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Congressman Peter King. In 1985 the state which would elect Mary McAleese as its president in 1997 boycotted the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade because future peace maker Peter King was the Grand Marshal. Then in 2011 Mary McAleese herself snubbed the Big Parade by refusing to be its Grand Marshal. The Irish communities of NYC and other cities in this great nation should never forget the politicians of the Irish state who reject and disown us when we fail to put their wishes ahead of our own interests.

What's "prestigious" about that award? The only criterion to win it is that you have be a member of the ruling class who has never done anything worthwhile.
