Bythebay get over it. Just as you are, we foul mouthed yanks are allowed to voice an opinon. Are you and georgedillon the same person? You both need jobs or a hobby. This probably is your hobby!

Good post, yerrman66. I've been pointing out for years that Mass Immigration to Ireland is a project of the Irish boss class. No Irish worker has gained anything from it. And the same Irish capitalists who gave Ireland Mass Immigration are now giving Ireland Mass Emigration.

Well said WoundedKnee. The over the top social welfare benefits in Ireland would make a "Middle Class" American ask for Irish asylum!

What an idiot. What language is "African"? That's like saying there's lots of South americans here so let's have some road signs in "South American". No he's not just taking the Mickey. Sadly, this guy is dead serious.........(DEH!)

The Mayor of Limerick City can suggest strolling minstrels singing roadsigns in 200 languages if he chooses. Loudmouth and foulmouth Americans won't make any difference.

eileenofarrell, why don't you in the US get an official language so you can teach your immigrants whatever it is? You can't even make up your mind, ha, ha.

"there's little in Poland for Irish to move to." Well said, IrelandNorth, I nearly coughed up my shot of bourbon laughing when I read about Magdalena Kako saying that she wanted signs in Polish so that her sister could find her way around Limerick when she comes on vacation. Poles on Vacation in Ireland? No, the only reason Poles go to Ireland is either to look for work or, increasingly, to go on welfare. The folks in Limerick would be better off just posting the sign for Shannon Airport in Polish. Anyone know how to say "Goodbye, and Don't Come Back" in Polski?

Roadsigns in Ireland are in Irish with English transliterations. How many roadsigns in Africa or Poland are in Irish. More post-colonial apologia? How much is he being paid for this cartoon thought bubble nonsense. Why not roadsigns in Danish, where Mayor McLoughlin's ancestors came from (Loughlin/Viking). Roadsigns in Israel are unapologetically in Hebrew scrip. Gallician residents along the Camino de Santiago refuse to speak English to pilgrims out of sheer obstinacy. Maybe we should remove English transliterations from Irish roadsigns to force natives to bí ag tiomaint agus ag smaoinaimh as Gaeilge, rather than think and drive as plastic Georgies. EU citizens CAN move freely. Thing is, there's little in Poland for Irish to move to. And Africa isn't in the EU. Looks like some posters should have stuck with the Irish history they knew little about for Inter Cert than drop it for global geography they know even less about. The Mayor of Limerick-ski/Limerick-badinga needs to cotton on.

Mayor of Limerick resembles a rural 'red-neck'. Wonder who put him up to this idea...? Our non-nationals feel perfectly at home - if they are on €188 per week, they've never had it so good. Ireland - the isle of the deluded, dis-enfranchised (oh wait, another 70,000 to leave this year..) damned and terminally stupid which is ashamed of its own language.

Look at the large red face of this Mayor. Seems like someone who fancies a drink. ..This country has 2 Official languages for crissakes! English and....wait for it..........IRISH!! Why are these eager-to-please do-gooders in Authority ashamed of Our Native Tongue? WTF does Society have to bend over to Everybody? This simply is a non-starter. Not gonna to happen anytime soon. The tail should not wag the dog - newcomers should not boss the population who have always lived there..
