We konw of one special ocassion when the Norhern Lights were seen by scores, possibly hundreds, of Irishmen as they lay wounded or dying among their fellow Unon Army casualties. That was on the nigh of 13 Dec. 1962, at Fredericksburg, where the Irish Brigade had made the greatest advances suffered severe losses to the Confedrates who were led by Lee, Jackson, Longstreet, Picket ect. Seldom were the Aurora Boraalis seen so far south. AS the wounded and dying Irishmen watched those brilliant lights, a few probably recalled bright moonlight nights it their beloved homeland, which many of them would never again lay eyes on.
