George Zimmerman, the accused in the case of Trayvon Martin’s murder, has returned to jail in Florida after a judge revoked his bail bond as the court believes that his wife lied about their financial situation. He could face remaining in jail until after the trial, estimated to end in April 2014.

Accused of the second-degree murder of 17-year-old Martin, Zimmerman was initially released from Seminole County Jail in April after posting bond. Before his initial hearing, Zimmerman had set up a website and received $193,000 in donations from his public supporters.

However, in court, Zimmerman and his family claimed they had no means to pay the bond. The prosecution now claims that Zimmerman and his wife Shellie openly lied about their finances. They claim Shellie knew about the donations when she testified under oath on 20th April at his bail hearing.

At last Friday’s hearing, Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda said, "This court was led to believe they didn't have a single penny. It was misleading and I don't know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie," according to CBS reports.

Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester revoked Zimmerman’s bond.

Zimmerman’s defense lawyer, Irish American Mark O’Mara, has filed a motion for another bail hearing.

O’Mara says the Zimmerman family members were simply scared and did not understand what was happening in court or whether they could “trust” Judge Lester.

He says the Zimmermans plan to apologize to judge Lester.

According to ABC, O’Mara said, “It's not again like they were trying to hide the money or leave with the money. They just had it... and felt like they needed to secure themselves.”

Speaking to Charlie Rose on CBS’ “This Morning” O’Mara said that Judge Lester would decide Zimmerman’s fate, whether he will be freed on bail now or remain in prison until the trial commences on 8th August or even during the trial.

He said, “Judge Lester gave us all a very strong signal that he and he alone will run the courtroom and that everyone is going to tell the truth. So I’m certain that not only the Zimmerman family but all other witnesses that come before Judge Lester had better tell the truth and nothing but the truth if they’re going to be treated fairly.”
