must've been Sinn Fein's fault.

Mr. Horgan, read Mr. Kibbey. He's right. On both points. Of course it's possible that a magnitude 5 could happen if a 4 could happen. and a 9 "could" happen (we've had maybe ten of those world wide in the past two centuries). Some would concentrate on what's likely or probable and foreseeable. And it would be more irresponsible to regress to cutting forests and turf for all our fuel and to go back to horse drawn Jaunting carts than carefully utilizing modern forms of energy.

Notice it happened near the home of the Taoiseach. Consider this a warning shot from God for selling us out.

The Italian Government is prosecuting some of its geologic survey people because they failed to PREDICT an earthquake in northern Italy a while back. I thought earthquake prediction was still a very sketchy thing.

This earthquake occurred very close to the Shell gas rig in the Slyne Basin. It will be argued that this was an unforeseeable event, just as the Japanese nuclear power company argued that a tsunami was unforeseeable at Fukushima. If a 4.0-magnitude earthquake is possible
in the Slyne Basin, then a larger earthquake is also possible in this geological fault area. It would be irresponsible to ignore these dangers when imposing safety standards on Shell gas rig, the pipeline from the rig to the shore, and the gas processing facilities on the
mainland.
