Aren´t the Irish an awful bunch of suckers. They expect that visiting one of the many statues in a Dublin church will get someone to fall in love with them. It should be a warning to others to steer well clear of them. It is only a commercial venture by a "religious" order, one of whose members imported the remains of a an executed foreigner to Dublin 15 centuries ago. Just over a century ago they erected a statue and then all those eejits came flocking out of the woodwork. And now we hear that DeValera was a Carmelite !! Wonder how many successive Taoisigh have been Carmelites ? It might be the cause of their demise - You cannot serve God and Money. Does Enda Kenny look like a member of a religious order ? It could be the enda´ him too.
The Shrine is to the right of St. Therese and to her left is a Shrine of Pope St. Pius X. There are others, Our Lady of Lourdes, Blessed Titus Brandsma(A Carmelite priest, died by a lethal injection from the Nazis. A memorial to Bishop Fulton Sheen who gave a sermon there and photos of President DeValera who was a member of their third order and buried in their habit. It's very historic and interesting, a lot of tourists pay a visit there.
