This story reminded me of the Irish-born woman, Margaret nee Fitzsimons Hassan, who worked for CARE. She, too, had become a Muslim, perhaps also to be more acceptable to the local and not-so-local militant Islamists. One day "Madam Margaret" was caught and eventually executed, despite pleading (in Arabic) for her life over and over. When was the last time, say, a Christian group cut off a person's head, massacred people? Oh yes? Show me your stats!

Her father was a British soldier serving in Northern Ireland and her mother is from Northern Ireland. She was brought up in Aylesbury, near London.
