I will tell you this right now, this stinks to high heaven. Their "law" is fundamentally flawed. You cannot target certain "breeds" or soon we will be doing it to humans. Remember, Nazi Germany, not so long ago. Each dog should be judged on it's own merits, how it was raised, etc. This dog had a loving family, no complaints against it, and we have seen the videos of it's "temperament" test here in the U.S. where this dog just wanted to please. NO family would fight for 2 years and spend that much money on a dog that was not a great dog. That's logic. This is a case of an abuse of power, and a Ms. Lightfoot, the dog warden, and her co-horts not wanting to admit they were wrong. They should lose their jobs. Support Lennox's law against specific breed legislation.
Signed, a proud owner of two mixed breed pits in the USA

never underestimate the ability of a small group of people to be totally ignorant What good did it do to put this dog to sleep.....and by the way when and if some of these city council members get to heaven i hope lennox is there to greet the and take a big ole chunk out of their ass. wow and I thought people in the us were paranoid about pitts how embarrassed the Irish must be knowing they have these kind of people in some type of power. and the judge what a loser......he needs to be doing traffic court instead of making decisions about life........

The fact that they RULED OUT relocation when this dog could have gone to a HAPPY home where it would have been able to live legally simply proves that they're a bunch of power-hungry jerks. The problem here was not the dog, nor the breed - the problem is in the idiots who think they have the right to KILL a good dog who could have gone to a good home.

Wow, there are a lot of dumb f*cks on this site!
Belfast is in Northern Ireland which is part of a different juristiction to 'Ireland' and so saying 'Im gonna boycott irish goods because of this'', is like me saying 'Im gonna boycott Canadian goods because they club seals in Canada'. Educate yourselves, idiots.

@donald3884: What part of Lennox being a Labrador Retriever / American Bulldog cross don't you get?
He WASN'T a pit bull! They had DNA and papers PROVING it. He was murdered only because those idiots THOUGHT he looked like a pit; however, if you take a GOOD look at him, he CLEARLY looks like a LAB!
Also, if you were attacked by a black man, would you judge all black men the same way afterwards? Hating an entire breed of dog because of what some individuals do is the same thing as hating an entire race. Bigotry is wrong!!! Besides, the blame lies with the people who train dogs to be mean, not the dogs, and ANY dog can be trained to attack

So the BCC felt that a previously well adjusted dog(before their dog wardens / toturers got hold of him) who was also an important part of a sick little girl's life couldn't make the same adjustment after the cruelty they inflicted on him as Michael Vick's fighting dogs, most of whom are family pets and therapy dogs, have?
That says A LOT about both the BCC and its dogs wardens to me, and it isn't pretty.

This was totally unnecessary, since Victoria Stilwell, whom hundreds of us know, from TV, would find a home, and absorb all the costs to save Lennox. I am confused, does the Council have more power then other groups in their Government? And, who was so terribly against dogs, that he and they could make that decision? It's an abuse against Power Control.

Dreadful decision. I have five rescue dogs and am appalled by my Council's action. Check out membership of Health and Environmental Services Committee on BCC website. The councillors there are named. Email them directly. Belfast operates a proportional representation formula for committees. So, if Sinn Fein or DUP have 30% of seats on Council they have 30% of membership of all committees. Dont blame all of Northern Ireland for this dreadful decision. RIP Lennox.

MichaelC I have some good friends who are American but I can't deal with the militaristic attitude of the Government although I like Obama but he hasn't really done much to bring any of the troops home. It is fine to be peace keepers but I don't think that is what the American government is about, and that is what scares me about the American government if they want something like a country they can take it and usually do. They had no business in Vietnam and no business in Iraq. The reason why the Americans have a suffering economy you just have to look at 8 million per bomb that was dropped on Iraq, just to get rid of a puppet that they put in because he wasn't adhering to there demands. Sure Saddam was an evil man and got what he deserved but I believe the biggest terrorist of them all was George Warmunger Bush and he should have been marched up those steps right after Saddam. Gearge killed as many or more innocent people that Saddma ever did. My opinion take it or leave it. George was not a good man and the American people voted the bastard in for two terms so that dosen't say much for them. Like I said we in Canada are just as stupid as we have given a monster here a majority government and he is thinking about buying jets for 35 million a shot. Then he has to find a war so they don't rot on the tarmac.

Dear Lennox, you're in a better place, running around in fields of green grass (not Ireland), beautiful scented flowers and many four legged friends who love you for you, not for what you look like, but for your beautiful, loving soul! Rest in peace gentle soul.
