The death of Officer Byrne in 19889 reminds me of another policeman who was fatally shot at Columbus Circle subway station in June, 1981. Transit Officer Joe Keegan was a resident of Inwood, (upper Manhattan) and a former marine whom I personnaly knew. The Transit Police pipeband played as his casket was being removed from Good Shepherd Church. As far as I know his murderer is still in prison.

life for pre determined planned cold blooded murder should mean that.life.if you are a lookout, its the same as being a shooter.especially drug related gang related murder, and especially a cowardly hit like this one on a cop just sitting in his patrol car,the message should be,ZERO TOLERANCE.

Can't call it a racist hate crime because he is white and sadly that is true. Domestic terrorism sounds good slainte9. Pray those low lifes don't ever get out.

Here's a case where the death penalty is justified. At the very least it should have been solitary confinement to life without parole. This was a racist hate crime and act of domestic terrorism.

They should have been executed for the shooting of this young police officer. To even consider parole has to be a slap in the face to all police offers and especially officer Byrnes family. NO PAROLE, JUST LIFE IN SOLITARY for that is what is deserved.
