Jon Stewart has been thinking about the papal conclave and he's had an inspired idea. If any conservative male Catholic can be pope, why not elect Bill O'Reilly?
Firstly, O'Reilly's already certain he's right about everything, Stewart reasoned, so wouldn't that push him ahead of the pack?
Secondly, if the Catholic church really wants to reach out to women, how about electing a female pope - or cardinal - or bishop - or, oh well forget that. Back to O'Reilly.
According to the Huffington Post, with his preferred candidate named, Stewart then concentrated on how the pope actually gets elected, bringing in Senior Vatican Correspondents Aasif Mandvi and Samantha Bee to explain the process.

Wrong Seanmor Pope Callixtus 111 was the last lay pope.

To the best of my knowledge, one has to be at least an ordained priest before he is even consider for the position of pope. I also understant that a person does NOT have to be an attorney in order to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, but having a law degree vastly improves one's chances of attaining that position.

The only person who probably thinks Bill O'Reilly would make a decent Pope is probably Bill O'Reilly, but for goodness sake don't give anyone ELSE the idea! It might actually happen and I wouldn't wish that on the worst member of that faith.

I think Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster might be great as the first co-Pope(s) in history.

Katieherk – you said “…leave it to Jon [Stewart] to demean the Catholic faith” –are you kidding? The Catholic “faith” has been demeaning itself throughout centuries! Do you honestly believe that the pedophile priests and their heinous actions, along with the covering up of them and the protection of these felons, are recent crimes of the church? Have you not heard of the Magdalene Laundries’ scandals that the Irish are finally acknowledging and not pushing under the rug, as they have for years??!!! No one has demeaned the Catholic Church more than the Church itself, and its repeated, horrendous actions, has for years. They make the crucifixion of Christ look like a cakewalk! If people like Jon Steward did not make such fun of the Church’s horrendous history of violence, child abuse, and killings, we would be crying instead of laughing and I choose to laugh because its hypocrisy is so pathetic.

I don't know about pope but I know Bill O'Rielly would be a much better president than the joker we currently have.

I've never watched this guy Stewart, but I understand he's Jewish. So why the hell is he butting into the affairs of Catholics? And why do the fools at Irish central think it's worth reporting his stupidities?
katieherk | Mar 09, 2013, 10:33 AM EST
I think we have hit rock bottom... don't get me wrong, it's not about Bill O'Reilly, it's about the loser Jon Stewart. Yes, O'Reilly is a practicing Catholic but that's not the point. The point being that leave it to Jon to demean the Catholic faith no offense to Bill, he's a pretty good guy, but Jon ought to get the facts and quit bashing the Catholics in a joking way or otherwise. What an imbecile!!
Joe Kelsall | Mar 09, 2013, 09:34 AM EST
Well, O'Reilly has got the sexual harassment qualification!
Frosty38 | Mar 09, 2013, 09:15 AM EST
When I read this. even as a joke. I wanted to throw up. Is he even a practicing catholic?? How could he be if he works for Fox
