Senator John McCain has added his voice to top Republicans calling for comprehensive immigration reform.

Since the election and the record low levels of Hispanic support for the GOP key Republican figures have begun advocating for a new look at their immigration policies.

Sen. John McCain, tweeted on Friday that he now supports “calls for comprehensive immigration reform.”

McCain was a key supporter of comprehensive reform along with Senator Edward Kennedy in the 1980s and 1990s.

However, he dropped his pro-immigration stance when running for president in 2008 when the issue was a major attack focus of the GOP.

Now he could well be the main Republican standard bearer in the U.S. Senate.

Boy oh boy, Mitt Romney TOOK "Flip Flop Lessons" from JOHN MC CAIN! Now, for this pass is Mc Cain,....."flipping"....... or is he,....."flopping?" Susan, you are correct about Norway. But, they have TONS of money from North Sea oil so they can *afford* to be "socialist." Oh,....and just *try* to immigrate to Norway! They're not stupid. It's extremely difficult even if you marry a Norwegian National. It takes *years* of red tape and hearings and paperwork and that's just for a foreign national spouse! If "immigration" is such a "good" thing then why aren't *all* countries doing it? The American People have said again and again and again that we don't want *any* type of "amnesties". We even broke the U.S. Senate phone system in what,...2006? We elect people to go to Washington to do our bidding not to *ignore* the wishes of The People. "We will never again ask for another amnesty and the Mexican border will henceforth be secured." - Ted Kennedy - 1986
Well, Susan, be careful when you throw stones. Your posts reveal that you are in that gagle of usefools. As for you attempted back-hand slap- I am a mixed blood Santee, Dakota Sioux; as well as, Scots and Sac on my father's side. I am Irish on my mother's side. Her people came for County Tyrone. What you, and others, fail to grasp is- you can not justify your liberal positions by attempting to use wrongs from hundreds of years ago; only a fool attempt to do so. In other words, because you can not argue the facts, or the law- be a dumocrat (liberal) and lower yourself to insults. Typical botom feeder conduct.
Poor Rose528 - You must have voted for Mittens. Go ahead, get it all out! You have four more years with Obama the Great! YES, YES YES!!
Irishfree1916 - I couldn't agree with you more! I am also a Californian (and a proud progressive liberal) whose ancestors (Fleming) came from Country Cork - Slainte!
Gaelicpiper - and when did your ancestors come to America or are you a Native American? This country has always been a melting pot-I LOVE it! From the elections, so do 70% of the Jews, 80% of the Muslims, majority of Latinos, women, blacks, gays,Mormons (Utah backed Obama)-lol, and a huge portion of the whites. Looks like you are out numbered - Oh ,and do you want some cheese with your whine?
rose528 - How was Tillman a hero? He died by one of his own fellow soldiers! This is sad, but no hero...
rose528 - I am not a Republican but have the utmost respect for John McCain. Can you imagine surviving the horrors he did both physically and psychologically? I would have broken like a China doll if it had been me. He is a very special human being and even though I don't always agree with his politics - I certainly have admiration and resepct for him.
rose528 Norway is a socialist country and is rated the number one country in the world to live.
merefalow - The Europeans took America from the Native Americans. Don't you believe that turn about is fair play? You can fight the wave like the Native Americans did and be overwhelmed or you can ride with it allowing it to carry you to a better place. The wave is coming either way so learn to surf or drown.
rose528, the Nazis were Socialists. Republicans are not Socialists.
there never was and never has been a democratic vote on whether the indiginous inhabitants of any country EVER WANTED MASS UNCONTROLLED IMIGRATION.IT was just imposed on them by self serving polititions and political parties and the every man is your brother brigade.give me your starving unwashed millions, well you have them now and they are ,or have taken over, and you will become a minority in your own country. These people have betrayed you.
It some repubs cooperate with the dumocrats and give 15 milliom criminal illegal aliens amnesty- it will be the end of the Repub party. The only idiots who want amnesty are the politicians. An amnesty will not benefit unemployed, and under employes, citizens. Even most dumocrat politicians realize that an amnesty would hurt their political future. This Nation is not theirs to give away. They have no right of devalue our citizenship. If some worthless politicians pass an amnesty, the result woudl be another flood of third world parasites, in greater numbers, waiting for yet another amnesty. If an amnesty is passed by those idiots- mark my words- Blood will flow. We will havd riots in our cities that look like the riots in Greece right now. And it will be the unskilled and low skilled, who just voted for O'bumma, who will be doing the rioting. Oh, McCain, he is no right in the Heed!
John McCain also was a traitor. He gave information to the enemy and not that great he served like all men in the military and nothing special. The military made a hero out of him. Unlike Tillman who was a hero and the military tried to use him. A comment from an Arizona resident. All the best to you also
Wow Rose! That is very harsh! John McCain is a Hero Naval Officer and a great man who has given decades of service to this Country and close to given his Life for the USA. Having said that, I won't say if I voted for him or not. But in any case, I respect his his welcomed change on the Immigration Issue! A comment from a Californian born in County Cork, on the Island of Ireland. All the best!
another loser heard from. If Arizona wasn't a repug state he would have been gone a long time ago and if we're lucky he will be gone at his next election. He is just another flip/flopper repulsive party of NO (republicans) which is a nazi/fascist party incognito
