A delegation from Sinn Fein met Secretary of State John Kerry and senior State Department officials in Washington, D.C. on Monday morning.
The Sinn Fein delegation included party leader Gerry Adams, deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald, Sinn Fein U.S. representative Rita O’Hare, and party press officer Richard McAuley.
“The meeting with Secretary Kerry was very positive and constructive,” said Adams.
“The U.S. secretary of state has had a long involvement with the Irish peace process. Next month marks the 15th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. This morning I raised with Secretary Kerry our concerns around outstanding issues arising from the Good Friday Agreement and subsequent agreements, including a bill of rights for the North; Acht na Gaeilge and a border poll.
“We also discussed a range of other matters including the need for an economic dividend and the continued imprisonment of Marian Price and Martin Corey.
“Our conversation also included the recent violence around the flags issue and the serious problems posed by sectarianism and segregation.
“At the end of the meeting we took the opportunity to discuss the Middle East. Secretary Kerry travels there this evening and President Obama goes tomorrow evening.”

Tooreen: I don't quite know what you mean by a "brits" or if you label me as such. I was born in London and spent the first 4 months of my life there - in the British capital. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who helps to prop up pPartition in Ireland by verbal statements or in any other way is more Unionist-British than real Irish. In either case, I say Go raibh mîle maith agat to IC for continuingto publish my comments, including those that few publications in either part of Irelasnd would ever print.

Tooreenagrena! Because they consciously deny what they unconsciously know to be their true cultural heritage - after 323 years! The trouble with Ulster-Scot Calvinists is that they are in geographical denial. The live on an island which they pretent is a peninsula. Who knew?

Can someone explain why there are some many brits and Unionists commentators on this site

Talking about learning I notice you attack me and not the substance of my post. If you are not a Brit well and good. BTW why should ADams make any comment on the men in question as he is not privvy to the functions of the RIRA. You obviously do not care about due process and before your mind wanders I am making a case on due process not on the guilt or innocence of the men involved.

There you are again Sean calling Irish people who don't agree with you "a Brit" or should it be "West Brit"? YOU'LLL NEVER LEARN SON!

IrelandNorth. Its nice that you slot Mc Guinness in for what he actually is or is not. Gordan, Adams is well on record in condemnation of what happened in Omagh.

Politicians in Ireland do not comment on cases before the court as the those charged are innocent until proven guilty or because the case is subjudice.Gordon of course has alreday made his mind up and finds them guilty as charged, as is usual with the Brit( their Irish therefore they're guilty).

Would Adams care to make a statement on the two IRA men who were charged finally yesterday with the murder of all those people in Omagh in 1998 due to the relatives of same never giving up and taking a civil action against the IRA to bring as many of the murderers to justice as they could. It took him six hours to comment on Omagh. Will he deny them like he did the killers of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe (and then claim them as IRA members) or will he simply ignore them. We await an answer.

Important for US Secretary of State John Kerry to meet the only representative of the only All-Ireland political party representing the whole of the aspirational Irish nation, something no other Irish political leader in Washington over the festive season can claim to be or do.
