After his election victory on November 6, President Obama told his VP he would like to join him in Ireland for a golf trip, but Joe Biden says he won’t allow his boss to tag along.

Politico reports that Biden told the Commander in Chief that he planned on taking a trip to Ireland once the election was over.

“I turned to him, I said, ‘Barack, now that this election’s over, I’m going to Ireland,’” Biden told the patrons at Hudson Tavern in Hoboken, N.J. The pub is owned by the deputy national security adviser John Brennan's brother Tom.

“You know what he said to me? He said, ‘would you take me with you? I want to play golf.’ I said, ‘I’m not so sure. But I’m going. I’m going to see where my mother is from and my mother’s father and my mother’s mother.’”

No trip details have been revealed but Biden mentioned in an interview in the run up to Election Day that he was "going to take a vacation about three days after this election is over."

Biden made the remarks about a trip to Ireland on Sunday as he toured areas of New Jersey which were ravaged by Hurricane Sandy. He took a helicopter tour of the destruction along the shore and reassured locals the Federal government was there to help.

"So as the president said, when he was up here with the governor, we’re not going anywhere. We’re not not going anywhere. And you’ve got a homeboy in the deal who gets it,” Biden said.

He also spoke about his affinity to the Jersey Shore: "I spent all my time on the Jersey Shore [during summers]. I was literally raised on the shore."

I would venture to say the Secert Service had something to say about this. The try to limit when the Pres. & VP are at the same venue.A golf outing would be a grand target.
Ah connemaragirl, would ye stop being so serious. 'Jokin Joe' was engaging in a little humor. There is no way these two men would head off on a golf vacation together with so many issues facing americans. I would also imagine that if Joe Biden does decide to spend a day or two in Ireland, it will be in combination with a european or middle eastern visit. I doubt if the vice-president intends taking off to Ballybunion specifically for a few days golf.
That's a bunch of BS,The President and Vice President cant be away from the White house at the same time.
Joan- you said it!!!! Thanks
I wouldnt take him on my vacation either.Besides they shouldnt go anywhere together.
Gee, I wish I had someone who would help me with the brickwall that is my Irish heritage on my mother;s side. They were 19th century immigrants and they knew their father's name but no their mother's and the census records just say Ireland.
