John F Kennedy’s only grandson Jack Schlossberg announced his intention to pursue a political career someday during the Democratic convention when he gave an interview alongside his mother from the floor of the convention to Candy Crowley of CNN.

The son of Caroline Kennedy is a 19-year-old sophomore at Yale and is already tipped by family members to be a major future player.

Asked by Crowley if he would consider a career he said, "Politics definitely interests me.  I'm most interested in public service.  I think that's something that I got from being part of my family, which is such an honor."

Asked about his political views on the election he stated: “Well in 2008, everyone was so excited, and it was great to be able to talk to my mom and my uncle Teddy and my sisters, and sort of talk about politics over three generations.  And I was really inspired, as my mom just said, about the promise Senator Obama made to us.  And now I'm really inspired by what he's done so far.  And, yes, that's the main reason.

CROWLEY:  So when we are looking at the polling now, what we're seeing is young people in particular are a lot less enthused this time around about voting, less enthused about voting in particular for President Obama, although overwhelmingly they still favor him.  What went wrong, do you think?

CAROLINE KENNEDY, DAUGHTER OF JOHN F. KENNEDY:  I don't think - you know, it's been a tough four years economically.  People have had a really hard time.  And I think now we're really going to see, though, that people are really deeply committed to President Obama, especially young people.  Because I think when they sit down and think about it, they know that he's the one with the plan for the future, for their future.

I think that's going to change.  I think those polls are going to change.

CROWLEY:  It's going to be hard to make up - there's like about a 20-point gap between those who say that they're definitely going to vote, and then young people, who say they're definitely going to vote this time around.  I know you've written a couple of articles for our dot-com.  What is your best pitch there?  I think we heard your mom's out here in her speech that we carried.  But why do you think it is?  A lot of people think it is the unemployment rate among young folks, 18 to 24, is about 17 percent.

SCHLOSSBERG:  Well, I think that young people have a lot to thank President Obama for, actually.  I think that he's been an incredible ally to us in Washington, whether it's pushing for the DREAM Act, whether it's, you know, coming out in support of gay marriage, an issue that's very important to my generation, or - and the Affordable Care Act.  All of us are able to stay on our parent's plan until we're 26, and that's a really big deal, and I think that a lot of people are going to start getting excited now.  We're really starting to kick this off.  And I think you're going to see a lot of young people at the polls.

How did they miss you jetsnoone!!!
The Kennedys are baby killers via abortion.
The Kennedy's entered public service to lift the profile of the middle classes and introduce a fair and balanced health system. More than you can say for the for the likes of Romney/Ryan who would steal from the middle classes to enrich the themselves and their despicable billionaire friends such as the Koch Brothers. Fail to understand why middle class GOP voters would vote to put themselves and their children into poverty.
What tripe. But with the name "Schlossberg" and not "Kennedy", don't count on the boy continuing the "Kennedy magic" for another generation.
I think some of the commenters here sound a bit confused. They knock the Kennedy kids for being born with a silver spoon in their mouths and then in the next sentence they knock them for freeloading off the taxpayer by seeking public office. If one is already VERY wealthy, then it stands to reason that their motivation for entering politics is not to support themselves at the taxpayer,s expense. I doubt that Mitt Romney has worked so hard to achieve public office just to get a nice government salary especially since he did not take one in Mass. Just sayin'.
oh puleeze i think i'm gonna hurl. Just what we need another entitled spoiled rich brat who expects everything to be handed to him. The Kennedy legacy is not one to be proud of , they are all a disgrace. And Caroline lives this super elitest life style and is a first class snob complete with lockjaw counting her millions that she hasn't earned a penny of. She could not be more out of touch with people who are trying to pay mortgages. So of course her whole clan is all about pandering and building the welfare state on the backs of people actually trying to pay their bills.Ted Kennedy was one of the most despicable people ever...
Warlocks you seem to forget that Kennedy boys fought and died in WWII fighting for America while George W avoided service cause dad got him an office job!!
Schlossberg - with a name like that people will be reminded of the billions we send and billions spent fighting wars to protect our most trusted ME partner. Can't overlook the pair so pledged in service to that end - UK/US. Surprize.
Good for him.
Hey! Warlock freeloaders with a silver spoon like Romney, Ryan,Bush and co.
You have a 19 year old Yale student who hopes to attain polical office, a young man whose family gave so much to this country (including two assassinated men) and some of you who responded find this less than acceptable? The Kennedys' have given much too much. Having said that, why would any of you want to cut off the aspirations of any young man or woman who aspires to office in this country? I would not want any of you as my parents, both of whom told me that as an American, I can do anything if I have the education, the talent and the drive to do so. I cannot stand no-sayers!
See everyone is clamoring for the Kennedy's "public service." Like we don't have enough free loading politicians already. This will be right out of college, so he doesn't have to actually do any work or actually accomplish anything. We should just vote for him cause he's a Kennedy? That's the way they think.
We Don't need another free loading Kennedy in Political office The Bastards are all born with a sliver spoon in their mouth. they have never done a Hard & honest days work in their lives. they suck off hard working tax payers. most of them couldn't do a 8 hours of hard work to save their black souls bejesus. they came from a long line of crooked criminals @ freeloaders. The truth being they are only out for themself not the working Man they talk a good story. and fill their pockets with Dollars and free perks. Let the work for a living like everyone else.
