Doctor Fintan Lane, the Irish peace activist who embroiled in the Israeli raid on aid ships to Gaza last year, has called the findings of an Israeli report into the attack a public relations exercise.

Lane was one of three Irish people seized by Israeli commandos as the peace flotilla they were passengers on attempted to land in Gaza with aid supplies on May 31 2010.

Nine Turkish activists were shot dead in the shock raid, which a UN report released last year criticized the Israeli navy for. The commandos had shown  an unacceptable level of brutality, the UN report stated.

Lane is now part of an international committee organizing a second flotilla for Gaza on March 30. Irish peace activists have bought a boat which will carry 25 people.

Lane said he was quite aware that the Israelis were capable of repeating the commando attack, but he remained defiant.

"The Israelis do what they like outside their own territory," Lane told the press. "This happened in international waters and the idea they found legal justification for that is ridiculous."

Lane added: "They stand alone in believing that. The UN report before Christmas was very clear. It was an illegal act."

Lane then called on the Irish Government and the European Union to support the second peace flotilla and to continue for an end to the siege of Gaza.

George you know your not allowed to be humorous when discussing Israeli terrorism, you'll be branded a Nazi or a holocaust denier.
seanomelbourne: That's a BLOOD LIBEL!
Creakygate..I think you should go..Be sure and wear your swastika armband on one arm and the Onion Jack on the other. you'll be welcome on both sides then.
Did I just read that Dracula investigated the theft of blood from the blood bank and absolved himself of all blame?
BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!
Readers might be interested to know that, according to the Irish newspapers, the first embassy of the Republic of Palestine in any European country is to be opened in Dublin. That's good news. Already Free Palestine has been recognized by such nations as Argentina, Chile, Venezuela etc.
butler: You're talking garbage.. Lebanon is a democracy, as are the Palestinian Territories. The latter had free and fair elections a few years back, but of course Israel, the US, the EU etc. didn't accept the people's vote. As regards Israel being a democracy, no true democracy attacks innocent people and murders them. But Israel does.
Doctor Fintan Lane - one of the Gaza boatpeople - is way out of his league. The participation of an Irish delegation was an exercise in abject narcissism in the hope of getting some attention for themselves. They make me ashamed to be associated with them through citizenship. Israel is a good country - the only democracy in the Middle East. Gaza's misery can be challenged directly with Hamas unless you are a woman - they have no for females.
a togetherness wave will hit in denial - like no collection of mighty (reporting to g-d) worldy achievers.
who's gonna confront the evil that keeps nations under foot.
I did'nt see any peace flags on the ships railings the activists cut off the ship and used to attact the boarding party
Isreal used Irish passports to commit murder thus putting the lives of every man woman and child in Ireland in jeopardy.
And he is "objective"....suuure he is. This whole thing was an intentional setup to make the Israelis look bad for defending themselves. If the Israelis had not been attacked they would not have retaliated. Navy SEALS would have acted exactly as the Israelis did, except they probably would have killed a lot more of these jerks. This reminds me of how the IRA would plant a few gunmen in a large crowd of demonstrators, fire a couple of rounds at the Brits or police and then turn and run to leave the civilians to take the return fire.
