An Irishwoman missing for over a year has been found safe and well by Irish tourists in Spain.

Nollaig O’Connor is set to fly home to Fermanagh on Sunday after she was spotted in the South of Spain.

Her family had listed the 37-year-old as missing last summer.

They have told the Irish Independent of their ‘relief and delight’ that she has been found alive and well.

O’Connor, described on a missing persons website as a ‘vulnerable adult’ had not spoken to her family in over a year.

She had been studying in Scotland when she last made contact.

The online post that declared her ‘missing’ described Nollaig as ‘deeply religious’ and a keen busker.

The report adds that her family had launched a social media campaign to trace her.

They asked people heading to mainland Europe to raise awareness and leave ‘missing’ posters across the continent.

An Irish couple spotted Nollaig in the south of Spain on Friday and contacted her family who flew out to meet her.

A Facebook post on the social media page ‘Help Find Nollaig O’Connor’ said: “Great news, I am with Nollaig south of Spain and she is safe.

“Even better she has agreed to come to Ireland with me and we leave on our journey tomorrow.

“Many thanks to all who have helped on this journey and to Tara and Nicky Cassidy who met Nollaig on the streets today and have been so generous with their time and home today and tonight.

“We have been truly blessed this day.”
