The body of an Irishman was found in an apartment that was on fire in Yonkers on Thursday evening, July 9.
Ray Wiseman, 39, from Bantry, County Cork was found dead in the apartment he rented in Sedgwick Avenue in Yonkers on Thursday evening.
Wiseman, who has a four-year-old son with his former partner in New York, was well known and loved in the community. Known as "Feisti," he enjoyed the company of his friends, particularly over a game of cards.
Wiseman, who worked in construction, was living in New York more than a decade. He comes from a large Irish family of nine children, some of whom also live in the U.S.
Wiseman’s body was flown home to Ireland for burial this week.
