This verdict makes no sense. Sad for this nice family. There's a link at the end of the article, if you want to donate.

How awful. Perhaps a family member could set up a donation page. Here in Canada, we would set up a bank account and let people donate directly to that account. Perhaps a family member could get the ball rolling.

where are the Irish people of New York???? They should be supporting this young family with benefits and donations. They could also ask other Irish communities to help...there will always be help...

The physical injuries caused by the assault qualify the charge to be FELONY assault. This was a case of a lazy Prosecutor who was willing to let this thug "cop a plea" so he did not have to spend a day in court. Shameful.

This is a sad, sad tale, where Barry McCormack and his wee family must face an uncertain future. However, I think the major looser here will be that amadán Cornelius O’Shea. He will probably face a very unrewarding future as a halfwit bully who will probably be knocked senseless himself, or even worst! I hope the community or perhaps the various agencies in New York might see it in their hearts to help this family? At any rate, God’s speed to them, and I’ll even send a prayer of to the halfwit as well. He’ll certainly need all the help that he can get! Slan
