"BogsideBunny" - Correct me if I'm wrong (as they say) but, isn't the woman English ...................?! I think the answer disproves your theory as pontificated below. And, by the way, I'm not saying they were there at all. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.

Wanna play, you gotta pay. What ignoramus would consume alcohol in an Islamic country? Only a raging alcoholic Irishman would lack the common sense to refrain from this stupid act.
Maybe he should stick to selling "unapproved" mass cards in his own country? ...OOP's according to The Irish Charities act of 2009 the penality for that is: *****"on conviction on indictment, to a fine not exceeding €300,000 ($390,000) or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years or to both."*****.....Have another brewski and go for the 3 years son.

I've got to agree with you on the attitude of Muslims in non-muslim countries - they seem to have a little problem with that thing called democracy. On the other hand if this story is true (and they seem to have a little problem with that concept too), they should be grateful it didn't happen in Sordid, sorry "Saudi", Arabia...

Firstly, let me say that I don't agree with the couple. Even apart from the morals, ethics, etiquette and hygiene aspects, it must have been bloody uncomfortable. Or perhaps the taxi was a 4x4 and they mistook the name for an "All Fours" and thought it was for taxiing dogs around the city. But the real reason for my note is to say to those of you who advise "when in Rome......", can you please forward that advice to those Muslims who, when they transfer to a non-Muslim country, immediately make it one of their primary aims to have the laws changed in order to suit Muslims. Their attitude appears to be "Wherever you are, do as Muslims do". (Or should do!!) Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.

Simple: When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Do people realize that , while this may not be a big deal in a western country like Britain or Ireland (don;t they have a home to go to?) it is certainly an offense as well as offensive in an Arab country like Dubai. Guests in a foreign country should adapt and adhere to the local rules ("All-You-Can-Drink" Party is offensive in an Arab country as well). Like it or not.

My bottom line is basically this.Repression is usually unhealthy.

These laws is they have to apply at all should only apply to Muslims and or the indigenous people of the host country. In all other cases such behavior should be discouraged by say a slap on the hand?Or can we say that the repression of Eros is at the root of all Islamic fudamentalist activity?Hence all the sexual imagery involved in the scene in heaven when they die after commiting suicide in the name of Islam? Its a typical tool of the religous elite in any country.Deny your heaven here on earth and youll get the benefits when you die.Im not advocating out and out gluttony but for most ppl a balance needs to struck in order to live a happy and fufilled life. That,s your ticket to heaven here and now and in the hereafter(i believe in reincarntaion so it s a bit more complicated than that but still the logic still applies.

This is bs.Sharia and Islamic law belong in the dustbin of history. In any other country this wouldnt even have come to the attention of the authorities. The Islamic cab driver is obviously sexually repressed and jealous. He cant stand to see freedom in his face so he goes wailing to daddy(the state). We all know that Dubai is one of the centers of the coming new world order.Thats why they have built a modern tower of babel(the other one is in Brussels and is currently housing the EU parliment. Why dont they report on that instead.Oh wait they are owned by the same people. Hmm

It does state " THEY COULD GET UP TO 3YRS " wait and see. Dubai relies on the elite rich from all over the world. This couple would have been arrested in any country.
