I am trying hard to find any relevancy between the above article and the tragic case of Savita Halappanavar. The above case relates to a young woman who sought an ‘on demand abortion’ after what appears to be fairly casual ‘barely’ sex and an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy; the other of a woman who was looking forward to bringing a child into the world. There seems to be much confusion as around the case as your printed article attests to! Some questions; Is the full extent of what happened in the Savita Halappanavar case known? Has the independent report being released/carried out? Did the attending medical staff believe that Savita’s life was in danger? Have similar cases, where the mother’s life has been in danger and the unborn child/foetus has been unviable, resulted in deaths and if so why haven’t we heard about them or would it be a safe assumption to say we haven’t heard of these other cases because there haven’t been any and that in normal circumstances, if the medical staff believed the mother’s life to in danger they would try to save that life? I think the above article shows that Savita’s death is being used as a pro-abortion tool! Shame on those who would use such a tragedy for such purposes. How can one mention the preservation of life and the request for ‘on demand abortion’ (the above articles intention?) in the same sentence? I think it time that people start protesting about issues that will have a meaningful effect on people’s life such as why an elderly person would have to lie on a trolley in an A&E corridor; why a misdiagnosed cancer patient would die without treatment, etc. We need to get real and while we are at it be truthful about what we seek; Abortion on demand or adequate medical and life saving treatment for all?
We are to be Non-judgemental? Well a pity this young woman had not shown better judgement about having casual "barely sex" and she would not now be having to deal with her bad conscience. She has not mentioned once the word Baby, the little person she had aborted by the massive killing organization, Planned Parenthood. How cold and calculated this young mother has allowed herself to become. Perhaps you should change your 'friends' and find where to get true help from Rachel's Vineyard program. Otherwise you will have to live with this pain in your heart for the rest of your life. There are people who care enough to help you so you can learn how to forgive yourself and heal.
NO matter the the reason, the woman should have the RIGHT to decide what is BEST for herself....and NOT what is BEST according to the bible. and to those who are AGAINST abortion: are YOU going to PAY for the medical bills and then RAISE that child?.....and if your NOT willing to do EITHER OF THOSE....THEN SHUT THE HELL UP! ALISA
I completely agree with this woman. I grew up in a Catholic family, but am no longer religious or a believer in any way, and I had the same experience that she had when I was 19. If I hadn't been able to get my college degree and career started, there is no way I would have had the funds to raise a child.
While acknowledging that the situation this lady found herself in was less than "ideal", this was no emergency medical situation where her life was in any danger. It was typical of a decision made for social reasons which seems to be the basis for the majority of abortions in the US, UK and other western nations This concretizes the link between artificial contraception/abortafacients and it's backup i.e abortion. The lady will chalk this one for experience but it demonstrates the casual and indifferent regard that those promulgating the pro-choice(pro-abortion) position have for the developing life in the womb. Indeed the womb has become a veritable death-chamber for the growing fetus or embryo when he/she becomes too "inconvenient" for the lives of others.
I love this newsletter, but this account of a careless, promiscuous young woman using abortion as birth control cheapens the experience of Savita, the young woman dentist from India. Savita wanted her child and was undergoing premature labor, which the Irish "powers that be" termed a "miscarriage." I still maintain that delivery of Savita's child by C-section would have been called a "premature birth" in the U.S., and measures would have been taken to save the child. During the C-section, the pregnancy tissues would have been removed to prevent Savita's development of septicemia and probably would have saved her life. She certainly would have received an IV medication, such as Cleocin, for blood infection to combat or prevent septicemia. Again, the whole Savita tragedy involved a difference in medical terminology, and Savita would have recovered, had she received the appropriate medical care as would have happened in the U.S.
Did I miss the part where she explained why she killed the baby?
James, the subject of your story has got several things wrong even the morning after pill. Her judgement in relation to the current controversy in Ireland is as secure as her knowledge of sexual matters. she needs education in several areas of her life.
I guess "termination" as a euphemism for killing the baby in your womb doesn't sound so bad. But it still reminds me of the way the Nazis used "special treatment" as a euphemism for the killing of undesirables.
What a selfish generation that can discard a little human that has no option but to end up in the trash can.
One other thought: So many try to make it to the US to have the baby in the States so it will be an American citizen. Interesting this nameless person was more interested in aborting the baby in the US than having the baby in the US.
How long are you gonna milk this story?
How is this news? That is except for an Irish citizen using the American tax dollars to pay for an abortion she should have paid for herself if that is what she chose to do. (Sounds like she needs some sex-ed classes.)
At least this story shows that the anti-abortion fanatics are wrong (actually I believe they lie, since the truth is out there and well published) when they claim that the 'morning-after pill' is an abortifacient. It didn't abort this woman's pregnancy. It has never been demonstrated to abort any pregnancy.
I have two questions, How do you barely have sex? And did my tax dollars pay for your abortion?
