I was brought up by parents and relatives from Ireland with strict morals but also with firm instructions to not try to "reform" any adult, just take them as they are. Made the world more interesting. My parents practiced what they preached and were kind and amiable to a wide assortment of people, some not approved by society. It was also an era when people would feed the homeless and I remember many meals taken with a hungry stranger who had knocked on the door. They always left with two sandwiches as well.
