The Irish communities of Breezy Point and the Rockaways, in Queens, have been badly hit by Hurricane Sandy. Homes have been destroyed and there is terrible suffering.
The New York Irish Center is now accepting donations of emergency supplies this weekend.
They will be accepting aid at the following times:
Friday: Noon to 5pm
Saturday: 10am to 1pm
Sunday: Noon to 8pm
The center is located at 1040 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, Queens, NY 11101.
The items most needed: Clothes, blankets, bedding, cots, toiletries, diapers, jackets, baby items, canned foods (non-perishables), bottled water.
Volunteers will transport all donations to the Rockaways on your behalf. The Center greatly appreciates the public’s assistance.
However they ask that at this time the public should not send monetary donations.

Friday 9am - 5pm or Saturday 10am - 2pm.
They are located at 990 McLean Ave., Yonkers, NY 10704 (www.aislingcenter.org).
