I hold out hope that a quiet, new revolution might be having its birth in this land of priests, politicians, posers, profiteers and the powerless.        

My first inkling was that there is a growing defiance amongst the citizens who had heretofore always obeyed even the most avoidable laws, are now beginning to defy them.

This is good and must be encouraged.

For example, when one is out driving and not going faster than a sensible 75mph, nearly all oncoming drivers will flash their lights if there is a road-block or sneaky speed van waiting to trap us.

This is,  in no small way,  to my discerning mind,  the type of start which mass movements determined to force changes could use in any campaigns which are,  at this very moment, hopefully,  being formulated by potential patriots.

Another noticeable feature in Éire Nua (New Ireland) is that when one enters a bank and if the manager is about, we no longer hear the loud click of heels on the tiles when he walks among us, which used to herald a call to obedience and eye-contact avoidance.

They wear mostly hush puppies nowadays. Why, just the other day, I said:"How're ya, Jack?" when my former god passed within earshot. He didn't answer, yet I felt it was more through uncertainty than arrogance.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's not as if the leopard has changed spots or anything, but it is an indication that new strategies are having to be devised in case the natives cut up rough. This is another blister to be picked at. Keep 'em worried about us now that we are wise to all the shenanigans in their financial institutions of dodginess.

As an aside, I like to think that if I smoked I'd strike another blow for freedom and light up in one of those places, under an overpriced work of art, for instance.

There are so many ways we can, if we lose our fear, get through our lives with some degree of dignity through simple non compliance which, if nothing else, will give us a sense of doing the right thing for ourselves without first having to seek the permission of a failed system.

Cultivate a belief that we are not helpless sheep waiting for direction and postponing all things pleasurable until all the bills are paid first and it's 'safe' to be seen to trade in a car or take a holiday. Let others wait before they get their hands on your money.

Don't pay the household charge if you think you can cope with the official threats and flak. Get out there, my brave people of Ireland and - FIGHT BACK!
