Irish must learn to break laws and fight back against oppressive Government

Small signs that the Irish people aren't will to put up with any more "shenanigans"

I hold out hope that a quiet, new revolution might be having its birth in this land of priests, politicians, posers, profiteers and the powerless.

My first inkling was that there is a growing defiance amongst the citizens who had heretofore always obeyed even the most avoidable laws, are now beginning to defy them.

This is good and must be encouraged.

For example, when one is out driving and not going faster than a sensible 75mph, nearly all oncoming drivers will flash their lights if there is a road-block or sneaky speed van waiting to trap us.

This is,  in no small way,  to my discerning mind,  the type of start which mass movements determined to force changes could use in any campaigns which are,  at this very moment, hopefully,  being formulated by potential patriots.

Another noticeable feature in Éire Nua (New Ireland) is that when one enters a bank and if the manager is about, we no longer hear the loud click of heels on the tiles when he walks among us, which used to herald a call to obedience and eye-contact avoidance.

They wear mostly hush puppies nowadays. Why, just the other day, I said:"How're ya, Jack?" when my former god passed within earshot. He didn't answer, yet I felt it was more through uncertainty than arrogance.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's not as if the leopard has changed spots or anything, but it is an indication that new strategies are having to be devised in case the natives cut up rough. This is another blister to be picked at. Keep 'em worried about us now that we are wise to all the shenanigans in their financial institutions of dodginess.

As an aside, I like to think that if I smoked I'd strike another blow for freedom and light up in one of those places, under an overpriced work of art, for instance.

There are so many ways we can, if we lose our fear, get through our lives with some degree of dignity through simple non compliance which, if nothing else, will give us a sense of doing the right thing for ourselves without first having to seek the permission of a failed system.

Cultivate a belief that we are not helpless sheep waiting for direction and postponing all things pleasurable until all the bills are paid first and it's 'safe' to be seen to trade in a car or take a holiday. Let others wait before they get their hands on your money.

Don't pay the household charge if you think you can cope with the official threats and flak. Get out there, my brave people of Ireland and - FIGHT BACK!

In actuality I am not going to post anymore as there is so much hatred and animosity on this website and the posts do not in any way represent the Ireland we knew. There seems to be very little knowledge of history only insults bantered back and forth. I suppose like every other country Ireland has completely changed and all their beautiful traditions have vanished. I am not going to open Irish Central up any longer. It is such a downer, and certainly not the brave, beautiful Irish we knew. Maybe the fact that there are so many foreignors has made the difference.
Why was my comment not posted?
stevenstar stop yelling, I get it you hate all things American, i hope to see you some day in person.

Bogside, we were the first country to introduce the smoking ban-it has worked a treat. there are no exceptions. I drive as do my friends and family- we have never broken any traffic laws. We have all got clean driving licenses. You beat up a garda? Big man! Just because you are a skanger, dont try tar us all with the same brush. Youre expecting your 6th kid? Put a rubber on, the last thing we need is more skanger kids in Ireland whose parents cant drink responsibly , go mental on drugs and go around beating up the gardai. You sound like the sort of person who should be sterilised instead of reproducing.
@@@bogsidebunny | Apr 14, 2012, 06:11 AM EDT If you've ever lived in Ireland you'd know the Irish never obey laws that they don't want to. They blame their absolute refusal to obey laws on the British occupation. Traffic laws are constantly ignored. Even the ones that make sense. Laws pertaining to drinking alcohol under age and in public are flaunted by everyone. Why? Because the Irish know they won't be caught and if they are for some strange reason they only have to recite the mantra: I was off the rails on drugs and alcohol, I show genuine remorse, my girfriend is 8-months pregnant with our 6th child, and i apologise to the Garda who, even though I don't remember because of the drugs and alcohol, I beat to a bloody pulp. There's NO personal responsibility in Ireland nor any concept that many laws and regulations are there to save lives and protect people. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> IM IRISH I LIVE IN IRELAND AND I WAS BORN HERE , I TAKE IT YOUR ANOTHER AMERICAN IDIOT TRYING TO BE IRISH CAUSE YOUR GREAT GREAT GANDMOTERS DOG WAS IRISH ...YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IRISH OR THE IRISH SO ID NOT BE GOING ABOUT POSTING IGNORANT SILLY COMMENTS .. I OPEY THE LAW AND MOST OF US DO.. SO WHY DONT YOU STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW BEST .. MAKING BIG MACS !!
The only political choice in the twenty-six county Irish republic is between Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Fianna Fail: The Free-State Party. And Fine Gael: The West-Brit Party. Both of whom are rubbed by the relic of the liberal capitalism. The recently inflicted €100 p/a tax was a whip-around to pay-off their bond holder cronies in Europe. No taxation without representation! The political establishment in Ireland are ventrolquist dummies of the IMF/ECB/EU. The real question is - can Christine Lagarde/Claude Trichet/Angela Merkel drink a [g]ottles of [g]eer while Enda Kenny speaks.

Thoreau is alive and well and living in Ireland!
Catholics are now learning to break the laws, Canon that is: To fight back against an oppressive church!
@Bythebay.I said it before and I'll say it again. You are an idiot.Unless you know what you are talking about,it's best to shut up and listen. It's past the deadline for paying this property tax of €100.What the Irish government has done is make 50% of the Irish people criminals. The Irish people are not lawbreakers. We are showing contempt for this law.I own my house a long time and it's sacred.I have the deeds. It's my castle. My families personal space.I payed my taxes to build it.It's as simple as this.I'll pay taxes to buy a beer, but I'll be damned if they want to tax it when it's in my stomach.
The irish have been breaking laws of oppression and rebelling for 800 years, and keep being criticised for doing so!
No point of giving you my comment or reading the BS, if I diassagree and point out a few facts you delete it. Bye Bye
Bythebay: Your claim that "Ireland has a very high incidence of road deaths" is flat out wrong. Irish accident statistics are below the European average, and remember that a lot of the accidents in Ireland are caused by drunk Poles, latvians etc. Know your facts before you post.
Perhaps the Irish will now remember an old saying; They came for the citizens in the six counties and I closed my eyes to their plight and now they have come for and there is no one to fight for me
