Sinn Fein said the government proposals were mostly a rehash of initiatives already unveiled, and the plan was to implement them within existing, significantly reduced, budgets.

Party spokesperson Peadar Toibin said, “In the build-up to the announcement we were promised much; however on publication we find no new money and no meaningful targets. Job creation and growth is the most important issue facing this state. In almost 12 months since this government took office, nearly half a million people remain unemployed.”

Creating 200,000 jobs reduces (by my quick calculation) Irish unemployment numbers by 45%. While this will not be enough, it is significant progress. What I have found is that Irish people don't understand that their previous government took ten years to destroy their country, with the help of the banks and the unions. The greed of many Irish people also contributed. They don't seem to understand that the mess cannot be rectified in eleven months. During a very recent visit I was told a few stories by a well known Irish business person. He related stories of 'real' results in creating jobs and investment by Michael Noonan. There was no publicity involved in these projects. I wish Kenny and his team the very best in their endeavors. I hope the Irish people will be patient and recognize their efforts in improving their lot. I hope that in four years time the Enda Kenny can ask the Irish people if their lives are better than they were in 2011 and receive a positive reply.
I suppose the other 230,000 will have to hold their breath waiting to see what comes up.........Typical for Irish dimwit politicians.
