#1 - There can be no further amnesties for any one, or for any reason. We either insist on total enforcement of current immigration law, or we disregard it altogether. Otherwise you are providing grounds for exceptions for everyone. There is simply no justification for exceptions to our laws.
#2 - This is a pet peeve of mine so grant me a bit of latitude here: Where ever your ancestors came from they made an extraordinary sacrifice in order to give you the gift of American citizenship. I choose to honor my great grandparents for their selfless gift by pledging my allegiance to this country and this country only. If you call yourself an American, you really need to drop the hyphen. It only serves to divide us, and as history has demonstrated time and time again, divided we will fall.
#3 - Whether they swam across an ocean, came in on a work visa and overstayed, or snuck across a wide open border, they are in violation of our immigration law and we cannot tolerate or make an exception for any reason (see #1).
P.S. I have the world’s most amazing grandson, whose paternal grandparents are of Irish descent. He will call himself an American.

Plasticpaddy, I don't know why you insist on continuing to insult the memory of the Irish who fled An Gort Mor by comparing them with illegal aliens. You keep approaching this entire subject from the purely EMOTIONAL standpoint..."oh, the poor illegals, they work so hard...blah blah blah," as if any of that somehow magically changes the fact that they're illegal. Don't speak for my Irish ancestors in defense of illegal aliens -- because you're NOT speaking for them, or for me, or for the vast majority of Americans that wants the illegals OUT of our country. The same for Ireland, too!

All of those who spew anti undocumented positions abandon your own ancestors and descendants by denying them that opportunity which was afforded their kin.

People should be 'responsible' and come to America legally and obey the laws of the U.S.A

Congratulations Congressman MURPHY....I applaud your stance for "NO AMNESTY for ILLEGALS". All illegals should be sent back and if the should aspire to live legally in this country, the should go through the normal process...as I did.

THANK YOU, CONGRESSMAN MURPHY!!!! And thanks to all other Congressmen and women of BOTH parties, who've signed onto this bill!!! We the legal, legitimate American people have had ENOUGH of the illegals' presence, in this country. No matter where they're from -- SEND THEM BACK!!!! (It's also quite heartening, I might add, to have the overwhelming majority of U.S. public opinion, saying likewise). My ancestors' homeland (Eire) is hopefully doing something about ITS illegal alien problem, as well (and it DOES have this problem). Hopefully, they'll follow suite, if they're not, already!
