to TriciaG28, did it ever occur to you that brian duddy was released because he was innocent? Do you think that being accessory to rape is a harmless crime that allows the perpetrator to walk free in exchange for testimony? If duddy was found to be complicit in the act of rape, he would have been charged. PERIOD. A deal may been made later but you don't get to walk away from rape if there's evidence against you. You accuse others of making mindless accusations against the alleged victim, but you have no problem throwing your own accusations around. Ever hear of innocent until proven guilty? The reason people are questioning the alleged rape is because it's not straightforward...all were drunk, consensual sex with one, her friend heard nothing, then one of the accused was released and apparently allowed to return home. Not straightforward by any means.

Tricia, according to the article, Duddy states that it was ALL consensual so how does that make him a prosecution witness? More likely, he was released because there was no physical evidence against him, ie, no bruises or marks on her arms from being held down as she claimed. If they had any evidence against Duddy, they might have offered him a lesser sentence for testimony against his friend, but they certainly wouldn't have let him go! The fact that he was released does shake her credibility....

The story doesn't not add up! Duddy was released with out any charge at all even though the girl said he held her down. Dee is one of the nicest people I know and I have known him and his family for years. I find it hard to believe he could do anyone any harm let alone rape. I hope this gets sorted soon for his and his family's sake!

Wow!!
The comments here are appalling. Yeah, she just HAS to be lying, right! Cos, no good wee Irish lad could ever commit rape, eh?
Why is it that no other victim of crime ever has to fight to be believed but when it comes to rape people seem to automatically assume the victim is lying unless they can prove otherwise?
And the "I don't condone rape but...." brigade want to cop themselves on. As SOON as you start making excuses to try and blame the victim ("oh aye and where were her friends? If it was REALLY rape surely she'd have called the police straight away. Bet she was drunk. Sure if she had consensual sex with one, then she's clearly a slapper. Bet she totally led him on.") then you've crossed the line into defending the perpetrator.
It this guy was Mexican would anyone on here be defending him the way they are? Not a chance!
And btw, the reason the other lad was released without charge? Yeah, I'm guessing he may possibly be the prosecutions main witness.

Damien is a lovely young man and would never have raped a woman. How dare you title this "RAPIST Nailed By His Accent"! He is innocent until proven otherwise. Those girls got drunk and brought two guys back to their house and should be held responsible for their actions instead of trying to blame someone else for their own drunken mistakes. If those boys thought they were in the wrong, they wouldn't have been hanging around for a half hour and taken the subway home. They would have fled the scene in the first taxi they saw. Also, where was the other girl while her "friend" was being "raped"? If there was a struggle, she would have called the cops or screamed for help and there's no sign of that. Also, the girl lied right from the beginning, saying that Duddy held her down while Damien raped her. If that was the case, why would Duddy be released and no charges brought against him? She lied then and she's lying about the whole thing to hide her own mistakes and make up for the situation that SHE, nobody else, got herself into. Drink responsibly and you won't find yourself in these circumstances. PERIOD.

This is the sad state of sex in America. I'm glad that I'm 63. Feminist and Homosexuals ruined sex. Feminist with the weird rape laws. That french men was in jail without bond on the word of a prostitude maid. Homosexuals spread HIV, AIDs, and other nasty diseases. People wander why the Tea Party is popular. Go Hobbits, Hobbits rule.

This story is lacking something. Also a hint of anti-Irish bias with the comment about accents. Duddy was the only witness? So it's automatically assumed McGuinness is guilty until he proves his innocence?
