Thanks Seanomelb for the follow up on what happened.
IrelandNorth I spoke with the parents of the murdered Irishman on Sunday(Some Irish organisations are helping the families of both boys)The perpetrator was a marshal arts expert he assaulted 10 people who were in the boarding house that night, two of the victims were Irish sadly one lost his life protecting a woman from an idiot. he will be charged with murder. The owner of the boarding house was a jew,the area St.Kilda east is a Jewish neighborhood. The families thanked the gentleman and his Rabbi for attending their visit and laid no blame at his feet.Irish are not been assaulted due to victimisation. Young people traveling abroad sometimes drink in the wrong places. A lack of local knowledge I suppose.
There have been a series of inexplicable assaults and batteries on Irish citizens down under in Oz. Can't help wondering if there isn't a certain resentment towards Irish immigrants there? Was the guesthouse owner Jewish or one of the victims? PS Cabinteely is in south county Dublin, on the way out towards County Wicklow.
Homicide detectives have taken over and the assault is now been investigated as a murder. The assailant is a New Zealander who was visiting his girlfriend at the boarding house. The owner of the boarding house visited the family in hospital along with his Rabbi. The family thanked the owner for his presence and laid no blame on him.
RIP
What a horrible shame for someone who tried to protect a woman, from being attacked to have been murdered this way. This also proves that rape is a monstrous act. My heart goes out to the family of this brave man, and his friend who was also seriously injured.
