They said they had to cut spending by a billion. That's why they cut the wages of cops, firefighters, nurses etc. But they could have cut a billion--and a lot more--by slashing benefits paid to foreign migrants and their children, including children in Poland, Latvia etc who have never even been in Ireland. Cut welfare, unemployment benefits, child supports, extra prson places, translation and interpretation services, free health care, free schooling, free housing for foreign migrants and you suddenly have several billions to play with.
