Irish people have been warned against traveling to Britain after a fourth night of rioting as trouble spread across the United Kingdom.

It’s the first time in the history of the state that the government here has issued an advisory about conditions across the Irish Sea.

The escalation of violence across England has led to calls for the British Army to be deployed on the streets in an effort to quell rioters.

Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Wolverhampton and Bristol were the latest scenes for chaos on Tuesday night as civil unrest grew in the UK.

As a result, the Irish government has now issued a warning to anyone thinking of traveling to Britain in the coming days.

The government has also offered advice to the one million Irish-born citizens who live in England as rioting escalates.

Although it has stopped short of advising people not to travel to Britain in any circumstance, the warning is stark.

Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs has posted a notice on its website advising Irish nationals to be vigilant.

Irish people living in or planning to travel to certain areas of the United Kingdom were warned to be particularly careful.

The Department has advised travelers to: “Avoid areas where civil unrest is occurring and follow any instructions issued by the police and local authorities.”

Irish born citizens already living in Britain have been advised to: “Be vigilant and monitor local media for current information and follow the advice of local authorities.”

Telegraph aka 'Torygraph'...!
'Rebelforce' Re our 'exchange'of yesterday Aug 10 regarding the "racial" aspect of UK riots. Please log on to -Daily Telegraph-today's edition of a highly respected London paper-showing some of the identified criminals. I rest my case.
This could happen anywhere, though as an American I never would have thought society in Britain was on the knife's edge of collapse. You see what a thin veneer of civilization we have -- all it takes is a random event (crack dealer being shot by the police) or a big storm (Katrina) and you see anarchy.
Cops in Britain treat Black youth like dirt, somewhat like they use to treat the Irish, as someone who has many Black friends in the UK I can state this with certainty
this is about upbringing and parenting not race and its not wholly a poverty issue either - up a court today amongst the expected `yoofs` were a millionaires daughter, a postman and a classroom assistant - this is about no purpose to life and living solely for the weekend drinking culture (Paaartaaay) that has overtaken the country in the last 20 years (just look at all the Ibiza type programs on TV) or the programs where working class brat white kids are sent to Africa, Pakistan or India and they put us to shame - they smoke, drink, take drugs, have sex, won`t work, won`t go to school - the parents and kids of these countries are flabbergasted with the total disrespect for parents, teachers, police and lack of self respect in todays British kids and they wonder what happened as they have an image of respectability concerning Britain and they are shocked when they see what the current generation are like.
Why Cameron and the cops are allowing this to go on is beyond me. This is merely a bunch of anarchistic, bollicks to the establishment punk ass kids. They ought to start using their sticks on them. I saw a bunch of women huddled in doors and I thought that no bunch of English citizens ought be made to fear a bunch of punks. I applaud the vigilantes that have sprung up to do what the politically correct government won't do. BTW, political correctness will be the death of England. If people don't want to assimilate they ought to be given the airfare back to the native country. Good riddance. I dearly hope that the Irish will not be killed by political correctness. It is stupid to lose one's country over it.
Nice Clevelander. stephendoyle, A supposed Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times"
Are you sure you know where you live old boreen...?
'Rebelforce' You're talking utter nonsense. The largely juvenile criminal element currently looting and burning in London and other UK cities is both black and white, predominately black in socially disadvantaged areas of London admittedly, but predominately white in Birmingham and other places. That's fact. I know,I live here. So who are these black and white feral kids? In general, poorly educated, very often from a one parent family, easly lead by a swaggering alpha-peer and with no respect whatever for any authority,be it parent, teacher, police, judiciary. This is NOT a race issue. It is a grave social issue about kids with no parental guidance and who have no concept of responsibility, demonstrated by their 'I want it now, it's mine for the taking and there's no one to stop me'attitude. Some of these white kids incidentally, particularly in Birmingham, are of Irish origin. I suggest a little less of the smug attitude on your part, and a better understanding of the facts, would not come amiss!
'Rebelforce' you're talking out of your rear-end! Fact! The looting and burning by feral youths in parts of the UK, is NOT the result of racial tension. True, the majority of the rioters in parts of London are black, but equally, a large number in Birmingham and elsewhere, are white; not a few incidentally almost certainly with Irish names! I know-I live here in London. These kids (and a considerable number of adults as TV coverage shows!)have absolutely no concept of responsibility, are poorly educated and are all too often from one parent families. Easily led by an alpha-peer,they respect no one, not police, parent, teacher or judiciary and live for the most part on the street. I suggest a little less of the smugness on your part, and a greater attention to facts might not come amiss!
why warn the irish not to travel to Britain, have the irish become targets all of a sudden, i know what it is they reckon we are experts at urban warfare and rioting, and that the irish could only make things worse,by throwing coals on the fire.and take out anyone that was,nt irish or white.
the riots are not across the UK, it`s confined to England and mostly the South / Middle of England at that.
these riots are not quite as wide scale as the media are portraying - they are unprecedented in England but its groups of dozens , hundreds at most, mainly `yoofs` (youths) and mostly black youths although saw plenty of white faces in the rioters too - its about disenchantment, unemployment and greed (materialism / secularism) more than any protest against the shooting of the black guy in London with youngster having no sense of purpose or stake in society any longer and bad parents subsumed in the weekend drinking culture passing it on to their kids. In the paers last week we had a 29 year old grand father posing for a photo with his 14 year old daughter holding her baby and the nurses had initially barred the grandfather from the ward until he proved he was over 16. Interesting to see the Turkish and Muslims out with huge families protecting their business premises whilst the white folks waited on police to arrive by which timw their businesses were looted and set alight
stephendoyle:You mentioned the R word..PC/Plod will be after you...'When America sneezes England catches cold'...!
Still not going to change your untrue article? The Irish government has not advised it's citizens not to travel to the UK. This really is Tabloid Trashy journalism. The advice is here on the government website if you were too lazy to look it up yourself http://www.dfa.ie/home/index.aspx?id=8546
