The Irish must have their myths disspelled for them. Kudos to Duffy for this. Pearse used a little girl as cover to surrender to the british, how cowardly was that!!!

@WoundedKnee You are correct. This is typical RTE propaganda and a fairly common attitude in the South Dublin media. Recently I heard Pat "the plank" Kenny describe the War of Independence as a "terrorist war." I don't understand their urge to denigrate everything done to win our independence.

Sources in Dublin tell me that this guy Duffy is a notorious right-winger and apologist for the British presence in Ireland, so he may well have a propagandistic purpose in doing this research.

Exactly, Seanmor. The british terror state has an appalling history of targeting children for all manner of atrocities.

It would be interesting to find a list of all the children killed by plastic bullets in the Six Counties durint the 30 years of the 'Troubles". We know that 7 of the dead victims on Bloody Sunday were aged 17. About 6½ months later in July of '72, the 5 victims shot dead by British soldiers in Belfast included these children: John Dougal (16), Daniel Coffey (15) and Margaret Gargan (13). Irish media in all parts of the world ought to inform the readership about these young victims who had done nothing wrong.
