Suffolk County Executive, Steve Levy, is angry over the reports that County Laois-born Police Commission Richard Dormer mishandled the ongoing serial killer investigation on Long Island. So far ten bodies have been found in Suffolk and Nassau County.
Levy released a statement which said Dormer is the best Police Commissioner in the history of the county. His spokesman added that Levy had not asked Dormer to step down.
This week the New York Post reported that Levy was angry that Dormer had disclosed too much information about the bodies found along the Long Island coast, namely that the victims found were prostitutes who advertised their services on the classifieds website Craigslist. It was reported that Dormer was going to be fired from his position.
Levy told CBS Local news that this is not true. He said "This story, it was made up. There’s no truth to it…Dormer has done a terrific job. I am not unhappy with the police commissioner in any way.”
“There’s a source, an unnamed source. This could be some guy from the PBA stirring up stuff that he read on a blog and the next thing you know, it’s an article in a major newspaper. What a disgrace this is…To say that I’m going to be firing my own commissioner without any substantiation whatsoever is horrendous journalism.”
Last year a search on Long Island began for New Jersey prostitute Shannan Gilbert (24). Gilbert advertised on Craigslist and was last seen in the area of Oak Beach after she had seen a client. Although she has not been found the police have found the remains of ten bodies. Only four have been identified so far. On Friday last police also found two adult teeth which are currently being tested.
The FBI, forensic scientist, behavioral analysis units and teams of police are now hunting down what they believe is a serial killer.

Best Commissioner....What a joke! That is an insult to every Commissioner before him, including Dan Guido. Rich Dormer could not shine that mans shoes, let alone be mentioned in the same breath as him. When all is said and done, Dormer will go down in history as the Worst administrator in Suffolk County History, When he walks into a Police function, people will turn their backs to him knowing what a disgraceful lying embarrassment he was as a Chief and as a Commissioner. Thankfully his clock is ticking!
