An Irish banker in the US on business went berserk in a New Jersey pizza parlor dragging a woman across the floor by the hair on her head and punching out another customer.
Police say the episode began when the Irishman, who was not named by police but said he worked for an Irish bank, got into an argument with the other customer in an Hoboken pizzeria, named by locals as Impostos.
He allegedly punched the man in the head and left him bleeding, according to NJ.com reports.
As he was leaving, a 25-year-old local woman tried to stop him but he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the pizzeria floor.
Cops were called and when they arrived they confronted the 29-year-old man from Ireland who had deep scratch marks on his neck and blood on his shirt. He claimed he was trying to break up a fight.
The man said he was staying in nearby Montclair and worked for an Irish bank and was due to return to Ireland in two weeks He was arrested and held.
His two victims were treated in a nearby hospital.

Bogside, you may have gotten your user name from being a skanger from the Bogside who starts fights and has 9 welfare kids but this is not indicative of Irish people.

Edward Mc Donald, that was pure class.

[f]ogside[f]anny! You're talking through your arse again. What parallel universe Ireland do you inhabit - the Waterside? But wow, just after they casino capitalists of the Irish private banking sector wrecked the Irish economy by giving themselves €160,000,000 loans and 100% mortgages to credit dubious borrowers, now they go on a rampage in the land of laissez faire capital. Geez! What can one expect but a free for all?

This is normal behaviour in Ireland. He'll try the "Irish Gambit" in court. 1) I was off the rails with "drink & prescription drugs". 2) I show genuine remorse. 3) I'll pay any medical bills incured. 4) Me partner is 7-months pregnant with our 9th child. And he'll expect to hear a blithering idiot judge pronounce sentence: "The probation act", which is basically saying: he did it but his excuses get him a "get out of jail free" card. One big problem, You ain't in Mullingar now lad!

thus proving yet again the quality of irish banks has reached its all time low - in how they do their business and in the quality of some of the people they hire!!

Citizen of what I may ask? Maybe you should be checked for delusional tendencies. "hackneyed right wing comments" Get your head out of MSNBC and read the comments. You even had a former Jersey guy talk, which indicates he knows or has history. And Nico, I was always warned about not driving in Newark when I was back in the area working, due to crime, especially against white people. But then again Newark is West of NYC and South of Boston, so maybe that is what you meant.

Quit dumping on the so-called criminality of the New York Metro area. If the bloke wanted to find real US crime he needed to go south and west in the US where the crime rates in places like Miami, Phoenix, Atlanta, are way ahead of anything found in NYC, Boston, Philly, etc.

This 25-year-old New Jersey women must be stupid. This was an argument between two guys that ended up in fisticuffs. She obviously tried to physically stop him from leaving. The guy he punched might be a victim of assault. But not her.She caused the second altercation.

Probably does work at a bank, slow day beating customers out of money so he decided to beat a few at lunch!!! Wonder if he had a pitcher or two prior to his desert?

Some truly weird comments here defending dragging a woman across the floor by her hair just to score some hackneyed right wing comments about New Yorkers/New Jerseyites. This man from Ireland may turn out not to work at a ban, that claim delusional. He sounds like a very troubled person.
SeamusMor | Apr 17, 2012, 11:36 AM EDT
No doubt the rude, me first, F...you! mentality of the New Jersey customer was the cause of this episode. The Irish are so much quieter and more respectful than those East Coast kooks. New Jersey is just an extension of New York west of the river. A New Yorker's answer to the light bulb joke question sums up their mentality: "None o' your f...ing business!"
Edward McDonald | Apr 17, 2012, 11:35 AM EDT
As a former Jersey guy, it's understandable. Paddy probably couldn't believe the caustic, wise mouthed nature of the guy, then followed by the shrewish, foul mouthed, harridan nature of a typical Jersey Girl. It's enough to send St. Patrick over the edge. Though Staten Island is but a ferry ride away Watch "Mob Wives" and you'll get a sense of their similar lovely nature. He should go to California where at least he'll get an "F.U." with a smile!

Sad episode. We shall await the medical verdict as to the stress he was under and avoid the "gombeen" comments. Gombeen comments in Eire are those made by the frustrated who want to impress us with superior wisdom, as in...well, you know how to spell it!
hunter933 | Apr 17, 2012, 09:42 AM EDT
It was probably an argument over anchovies. Either you love them or hate them.
lad1912 | Apr 17, 2012, 09:35 AM EDT
Good grief - as a former Jersey girl - you NEVER go to a NJ pizza place and pick a fight with the natives - whatsamatta with u?
BrendanDunphy | Apr 17, 2012, 09:28 AM EDT
Do you think the Irish visitor was, perhaps, drinking?
AengusOg | Apr 17, 2012, 09:22 AM EDT
Never try to break up a fight between a man and his wife/girl. As we know, an Irishman never starts a fight in a pizzarena.
AengusOg | Apr 17, 2012, 09:10 AM EDT
Ah, it is all getting too much for the banksters as the net closes in
