An Irish coroner is seeking the manufacturers of a baby car seat after an accident in which a 7-month-old girl was killed.

An inquest in Ireland heard that Hannah McNevin-Best died after her car seat failed in the accident.

Hannah's mother Bernadette was driving the car on the night of Mar. 6, 2009 when she struck a tree in Castlerea, County Roscommon after failing to negotiate a sharp bend on the road.

Hannah, who was strapped into a rear-facing car seat in the front seat sustained severe head injuries and died at Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin two days later.

Coroner Brian Farrell heard that the restraining point at the back of the car seat failed in the impact.

The gardai (Irish police) said they found piece of the car seat, which holds the safety belt secure, was missing from the seat.

The broken piece was found between the seat and the handbrake.

Garda Ciaran Prio said the logical conclusion was that it had broken off when the car crashed.

McNevin had bought the car seat in the Argos store at The Square, Tallaght about a month earlier.

So sorry for the family.
What was the car seat doing in the front seat of the car? In america that is illegal due to the danger to the the child as in this case proved correct. Baby car seats should never be in the front passenger seat of a car.
OMG what a Shame.
