Jennifer Sleeman was brave enough to wear her heart on her sleeve, and to leave herself open to carps and scoffs from the many right wing sexist misogonist dinosaurs that post regularly on the Irish Central Pages. Post, read and weep ladies. Even now the Irish Catholic Priests Association has put this issue right at the heart of their discussions. So Mrs Sleeman has fulfiled her role by "rocking the boat and upsetting the established order" You know, I seem to recall hearing stories of one who was also prepared to challenge conventional wisdom of the day. Oh yes, his name was Emmanuel!! Ring any bells Ladies!!
Say Dublinjas – did you hear what happened in the Garden of Eden after Adam had been living on his own for ages? Adam complains of his loneliness to God. So God says, "Okay, I'll make you a companion, a beautiful creature who'll cook and clean for you. It will be able to converse intelligently on any subject, and never ever complain or argue." Adam says, "That sounds great." God says, "The only thing is, it will cost you an arm and a leg." Adam says, "That's expensive!! What can I get for a rib?" (Apologies if it sounds sexist but ye can’t stop a chuckle.)
Mz. Sleeman, and any other women who take issue with the treatment of women in the Church, should read "Mulieris Dignitatem" (aka: The Dignity and Vocation of Motherhood or, as the Catholic women that I know that have read it, Authentic Feminism). This is a document written in '89 by JPII. It will make your hormones soar. This beautiful understanding of women and their role in the world is powerful. It calls for attention as it introduces theology that most lay persons have never before heard. It is about 100 articles long and can be downloaded and read on-line. Really. Google it, Ladies, you'll be so happy that you did.
Well said GeorgieD!
How did the "boycott" fare over here? I certainly saw no evidence of it. The media who promoted this farce need their asses kicked.
God created Man and then from part of man namely a Rib he created Woman, So according to that story Women were only an afterthought ..Something to comfort a man,Not supposed to be running the show or nag nag nagging, Anyway then Man created a RIB stuck two 250HP Mercury's on the back and scooted out too sea at 46 knots...No Bull.
Pregnant Women priests that's all we need
Yes, it stands to reason that men are God's preferred sex. There's nothing to see here, move along.
god bless the church from these attacks
