Irish Leader Enda Kenny one of the European leaders to accept Nobel Prize
Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to European Union leaders in Oslo
As if appearing on the cover of Time Magazine and being named the Golden Victoria European of the Year wasn’t enough, it now seems that the Irish leader Enda Kenny is set to be the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize.
Well not exactly. The prize was awarded to the European Union and he will be one of the leaders on hand to accept it.
According to Breakingnews.ie, Kenny is to attend the Nobel ceremony in Oslo on December 10th where he will be one of the recipients of the prize on behalf of the European Union.
Joe.ie reports, the 27 nation European Union will receive the award for overseas development and peacekeeping efforts and will receive a cash injection of 1 million euro.
Accepting the award will cap off a memorable 2012 for Kenny whose star has risen around the world in the past year.
