Irish J1 students begin their summer adventure in New York City

There are Irish J1 students all over the US contrary to all the usual bemoaning of a few weeks ago by Irish Central staff that there would be none.

In view of the strong support the Woodlawn Irish community has given to St. Barnabas Church for the past half century or so, one would expect that the priests of that church would try to help these new arrivals from Ireland in every way possible. Potential employers and those who hold elevted ofices should be reminded that some of these J-I visa holders had an uncle, g-uncle or former neighbor who honorably served in the U.S. military and grant these well educated, highly skilld new arrivals priority status.

Just heard that a bunch are arriving in Chicago, will have to check it out, my officemate has a spare bedroom to rent out and we may have some office work for them. It would be good for them to see that there's more to the USA than Manhattan & Brooklyn. Have any of you in other locales dealt with J-1 kids?
