The Green Wall of Bronkers.
Whenever I read about the Irish community in Woodlawn, I'm reminded of the Gaelic League activities and other events I attended at the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church hall from Sept, 1983 thru Dec. 1991, when Belfast native Rev. Campbell Shiel was pastor of that church. In addition to Irish language and history classes, the Gaelic League also held weekly instruction on Céilí dancing and monthly céilís there. At that time regular classes on Irish sterpdancing were given by Anne Sullivan. In adition to which pagpipers ocassionally practised their tunes in the same Presbyterian hall. I also attended an A.O.H. dinner in that hall on Easter Sunday, 1986. Rev. Campbell Shiel passed away in Jan. of '92 but he kind cooperation in the promotion of Irish culture should NEVER be forgotten.
