NYC Council speaker Christine Quinn is topping the polls as the favorite for the next Mayor of New York, according to the latest survey.
The potential Republican candidate Police Commissioner Ray Kelly trailed each of the three leading Democratic candidates. Kelly is by far the favorite to be the GOP nominee among Republican voters.
According to the survey conducted by Quinnipiac University, Christine Quinn tops Kelly 48 - 33 percent. Former City Comptroller and 2009 Democratic candidate William Thompson leads Kelly 46 - 34 percent and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio beats Kelly 46 - 34 percent.
Kelly, a registered independent, showed a lot of support from GOP voters with 82 to 84 percent support in the survey but trails with Democrats by margins of 51 to 55 points.
An even 50 percent of the voters in the Quinnipiac poll said Kelly, a former marine, would make a good mayor.
"Ray Kelly is a great police commissioner, and he'd be a good mayor, New Yorkers think - but it's still a Democratic town. All three of the Democrats' top potential candidates beat the popular top cop," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
"Voters are taking seriously all that Kelly-for-mayor noise among Republican leaders. More than half think he might run.
"Among Democrats, Council Speaker Christine Quinn is the favorite. Former Comptroller William Thompson and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio are in double digits, but she's comfortably ahead. The leader in this early look remains 'don't know.”
The poll questioned 1,066 registered city voters, including 658 Democrats, from May 3.

Quinn is what is called a "lipstick lesbian". She is the fem part of the magnificent duo. With all of the sacrifices by the Irish and other immigrant groups, do we want to throw it all away by supporting the perversion candidate. Compare "the halls of Montezuma" not to the shores of Tripoli but to the kitchen of two "d---s on the Hudson". Both have lost blood. However, one did it gallantly and the other did it biologically. My Irish grandmother had a third grade education and her father was IRA to the core. She helped make me what I am by shielding me from the pain of a POW father who could not cope. Semper Fi and s---w Quinn and her decadent ilk and up the Irish and the Fightin' (Obama dropped g) 69th. As a Navy vet, I have been there to offer support to the 69th and all of its lost souls five years in a row. Quinn was too busy d------g the help.

Too bad Bloomberg isn't running again. His comments re: the Americans of Irish descent partying at the American Irish Historical Society on St. Patrick's Day were priceless!!

NYC is a one party town and any republican who runs for office must run as a RINO.

There are many months until the election -- too soon to call it.
