Bythebay ...You stated :"Trying to say bullying is a natural part of social networking" Is totally no factual and misrepresents my statement which anyone could read below:"bullying is a societal problem, and fbook is the technology of choice for today's bullies"
I believe the more politically correct terminology nowadays is "taking one's own life" rather than the more severely judgemental Judeo-Christian "committing suicide". It's profoundly disturbing that so many kids are doing this. But it really is a question of strong ego boundaries. I suspect he experienced a parental (paternal?) deficit?
Byethebay, at 15 Lennon was certainly not a latch key child.
Bythebay "In the real world" almost every kid (junior high and beyond) is on facebook. Kids are totally connected through text and fbook for meetings, homework, sports, weekend events and yes, bullying. You can control your own home; take the computer out etc...Then the child walks into school the next day to find out what was passed around all night by all the other kids who still have facebook. This is a far greater problem than can be answered with a "where are the parents."Social media has its benefits and its problems, and bullying is a societal problem and fbook is the technology of choice for today's bullies.
KittyMurphy -very astute post, why someone would sink to questioning ethnicity of a dead child is beyond the pale!
@bythebay How many German Dowd's and Baldwin's do you know?! Anyway who cares what nationality this child was. It should be concern of the whole world, every nationality, that such tragedies take place.
He was wearing a hoodie ,where is Al Sharpton?
Why are so many kids killing themselves? What has changed to make their lives so unbearable? One word: FACEBOOK. In the past a kid may be bullied in school but could come home and get away from it all. FACEBOOK gives these bullies a forum for relentless 24/7 bulling which in many cases is far too much for any kid.
