A married 34 year old school teacher from Texas has been accused of sexually abusing a 15 year old male student. Julie Ann Moore, a third grade teacher at Sanborn Elementary, allegedly engaged in explicit sexual activity with a 15 year old Amarillo High School student.
The Daily Mail reports that Moore turned herself into the authorities following a month long investigation into her alleged sexual relations with the high school student. The complaint lodged against Moore stated that she lured the boy to her car during a high school football game.
Once in the car, she showed him a box of condoms, drove to a more secluded area, and proceeded to have sex with him for 10 to 15 minutes after removing both their clothes. Following the incident, Moore drove the student back to the football game before the second half commenced.

On November 11, items including a Dell computer, two USB drives, and an AT&T Subscriber Identity Module card were all seized from Moore’s home by Texas Rangers for investigation. A week prior to the searches, a Ranger met with the 15 year old boy who detailed “three sexual encounters” between him and the elementary school teacher, says the Daily Mail.
According to an affidavit, approximately 100 text messages were exchanged between him and Moore from June through August of this year, half of them being “extremely sexually explicit.”
The student told officials how Moore rubbed the front of his pants, kissed him with an open mouth, and offered him oral sex. A DPS official told investigators that he observed the pair “hugging, sitting next to each other during the football game, walking off together and speaking privately together for a lengthy amount of time.”
The Daily Mail also reports that if found guilty, Moore could face between 2 and 20 years in jail, as well as a $10,000 fine.

@CitizenWhy - you make a very valid point about the 'power equation' in this instance although I would expect it will be argued her position as a teacher is in fact one of authority fin the mind of a 15 year old. In any event the typical case of teacher-student sexual misconduct is generally viewed very differently where the young person is female or the adult is male. Female on female creates yet another dynamic and another set of attitudes. Either way what sort of a person does an adult have to be to crave sex with a 15 year-old? I made and make no comparison to cases involving Catholic clergy specifically.

I guess he really got into the pre half-time show. Where was she when I was in school?

Interesting to see that "the fairer sex" are as wont to allegedly abuse positions of authority as male counterparts. Give a lie to the mythology of the sexually passive female. Will she be treated more severely because she didn't conform to demure and inert sterotyping.

Either she and the kid got bored with the half-time show or they WERE the half-time show . At any rate , her maiden name is probably something like "Dumbrowski" . There seems to be no stretch too far for this paper to find an Irish Connection . Your "Interns" should skip the formalities and go directly to work for the National Enquirer .

Good question on her Irish-American status based merely on her name. My mother had a good friend named Murphy who was a Polish Jewish immigrant. Took the name Murphy in place of his hard to pronounce Polish name. He thought Murphy was a completely American name. Had no idea it was of Irish origin.

@RichardP ... The facts in this case are not parallel to the publicized male cases, at least those of the Catholic clergy. First, she has no power over the boy, not being a teacher at his school. Second, there seems to have been no intimidation of the victim, as is usually the case with a a male perp.

Beodonne, the fact that Irish Central is an 'Irish American' website might have something to do with it, 'home to the Irish Vice and Irish America magazine'. While I don't think the Irish will be rushing to claim this person as 'one of their own', they do have a tendency to clutch at straws in an effort to make an Irish connection with famous people, Ali, Obama, Springsteen, Newt (he'd be one of the Listowel Gingrich's would he?)....

How do you know she is Irish American? She could be of Scots or English origin and that name is common to all.
Oldwildrover | Dec 08, 2011, 04:45 PM EST
Niall just has us all conversing with one another. But I agree with the latter 2 remarks.....which brings me to the old saying...there are 2 kinds of people in this world...those that are Irish and those that wish they were...move on lads and lassies...there are more important things going on....Merry Christmas.

To beodonne and others posting the same query Dec 08-Think I may be able to offer a possible explanation. To fill up an otherwise empty space and/or to justify the engagement of a so-called 'Irish Central Intern'??? Nothing more nothing less!
beodonne | Dec 08, 2011, 03:15 PM EST
I agree with RichardP why is this site always making 'Irish-American' references. This is ridiculous. Any story that has a person with an irish last name will be printed here. I am getting so tired of this site.
RichardP | Dec 08, 2011, 03:01 PM EST
However, my next question is How does Irish Central know this woman is "Irish American" and what's the relevance of that point anyway? Do you report all crimes perpetrated by Irish Americans? Do you conduct genealogical studies to determine any Irish connection? At what point in the family tree does the "Irish" part of a persons ancestry cease to be relevant?
RichardP | Dec 08, 2011, 02:53 PM EST
All joking aside about what red-blooded teenage males would love a female teacher to do with and to them - it really pisses me off that the woman should be treated leniently because the male was 'willing' (although consent is a complicated concept in such a situation) whereas a male perpetrator is a despicable and dangerous, incorrigible. As Colkelly wrote. there is a serious gender bias in sentencing. I fully agree with Brnmar1 and Colkelly.
CitizenWhy | Dec 08, 2011, 02:23 PM EST
The facts here are odd. I wonder what the age of consent in Texas is? In most states it is 17, possibly 16 in some. If the boy had reached the age of consent this would have been dismissed as a very bad thing but not a crime. You would think a teacher would figure this out and act accordingly.
Brnmar1 | Dec 08, 2011, 01:34 PM EST
Based on how some of my female teachers behaved 40 yrs ago, I would say that the rate of female teachers having sex with male students these days is a lot more than we can imagine. Women have been getting away with seducing teenager boys for centuries. Most of the emphasis have always been placed on adult males molesting children.

Murph46 | Dec 08, 2011, 10:16 AM EST
If you Google teachers sex activity with students(US) you will find narratives of over 87 teachers that have been charged.Remember the defense for the one blonde,She is TOO PRETTY to go to jail!I kid you not!
colkelley | Dec 08, 2011, 09:39 AM EST
She'll get a couple of years at the most, but if it had been a male teacher and female student the teacher would be looking at 20 years. Gender bias in sentencing is very real since women who commit crimes get, on average, sentences only one-fourth of those of men who commit identical crimes under similar circumstances.
